Penguin: Robert Pattinson Reprising Batman for Spinoff Series?

We know that Colin Farrell’s Oswald Cobblepot is getting his own spinoff series on HBO Max about the rise of his Penguin, but the show is rumored to have one huge cameo.

According to insider Jeff Sneider on The Hot Mic (via ComicBook), Robert Pattinson will allegedly be reprising his role as the Batman in the spinoff series. It’s unclear whether Pattinson will show up as Bruce Wayne or Batman (or both), but we should expect him to appear in at least one episode.

Hopefully it’s with new footage as well, and not just recycled footage from the movie.

With Batman slowly building up to becoming a prominent figure in Gotham City, it would make sense for him to appear in the Penguin series. Heck, he doesn’t even have to appear, it would be fun just watching characters talk about the guy dressed like a bat that beats up criminals every night.

With Penguin being more a glorified henchman in The Batman, it’s going to be interesting to see how he becomes a prominent figure in Batman’s rogues gallery. We know that he’s already pretty smart, even managing to speak more languages than the Dark Knight, but we have yet to see him become ruthless. Even then, it would be great if the show could actually humanize him like a kind of comic book Tony Soprano.

No specific release date has been announced for Penguin, but the show is expected to premiere on HBO Max sometime this year.
