[00:01:00] Tommy walked into a cemetery and approached a grave named Daniel Owen. He was looking for something, but he didn’t know where to look. Aunt Pol visited Ada and her son; she brought a basket full of food. She arrived at Ada’s apartment; however, she saw the last basket she had brought was untouched, and the food went stale. Aunt Pol knocked on the door and told Ada that she had brought another basket of food. She pleaded with Ada to think of her baby as the cries echoed through the door. Meanwhile, Freddie sat in prison thinking of his wife and son. The police had already tortured him as the wounds on his head and neck were still bleeding.
[00:03:00] Aunt Pol got back from Ada’s, and Tommy was waiting for some good news. She told Tommy that Ada didn’t speak with her, nor did she say anything to Ada about him. Aunt Pol believed that Tommy sold Freddie out. Tommy responded that he didn’t rat Freddie out, but since he couldn’t swear on a bible, Aunt Pol didn’t want to believe him. He went to the pub and saw Grace working on their books. Tommy marked the calendar with a black star. He explained that black star day would be the day they take Billy Kimber out. Grace asked if anyone knew about his plan. Tommy responded that everyone in his family hates him, so he couldn’t tell anyone. Arthur and Johnny went to a small-time boxing ring to collect some fees. The ringmaster didn’t approve of the Peaky Blinders, so he didn’t want to pay.
[00:05:30] Before Arthur could wreak havoc, they heard someone shout that he was Arthur Shelby. Arthur turned around and saw his father winning his match inside the ring. They took him back to the house and offered him a meal. Arthur Sr. prayed over his meal, but Aunt Pol didn’t believe him. Tommy arrived shortly after and ordered Arthur Sr. to leave. He had left them ten years ago, and Tommy would never forgive him. Arthur Jr. tried to plead with Tommy, but Arthur Sr. just got up and left. Tommy told Arthur that if he wanted to see Dad so badly, he could go and join him. Grace continued to work on the books for the Peaky Blinders. Arthur came to the bar to get some money. Grace noticed something odd about the books, so she asked Arthur about it.
[00:09:00] Grace asked Arthur about their payment to Daniel Owen in London. Arthur explained that Danny kept his eyes and ears open in London for possible business deals. Grace thought Danny was already dead. She explained that Danny was buried and everything. Arthur told Grace that Danny was alive because of Tommy, and everything was just for show. Grace wanted to know what was buried in Danny’s grave, but Arthur didn’t tell her. He told Grace to keep her nose out of things that didn’t concern her. Grace nodded as Arthur left. She visited Danny’s grave to see things for herself. Meanwhile, Arthur went back to the boxing ring to visit his father. They had a few drinks, and Arthur Sr. showed him a plan. He explained that the plan was to build The Shelby Hotel and Casino.
[00:12:00] Everything sounded like a scam, but Arthur loved his father dearly and didn’t think he would double-cross him. Arthur told his father that he would love to work on the business with him. Arthur Sr. didn’t want to cause a feud between his sons, so he told Arthur to talk it out first with Tommy. He responded that he didn’t need Tommy’s approval because he was done following his orders. Arthur wanted to help his father, and he also deserved the Shelby money because he was a Shelby too. As a way to celebrate, Arthur Sr. invited his son to a sparring match. He beat the crap out of Arthur and proudly told the audience about his son. Arthur was so happy to be reunited with his father that he cried and hugged him.
[00:14:00] Back at the pub, a man entered and approached Tommy. He told him he was from the IRA, and he came to parley. He introduced himself as Byrne. Byrne told Tommy about Ryan, the man Grace killed. Tommy told Byrne that he didn’t kill Ryan, nor did anyone from the Peaky Blinders. Tommy offered Byrne some water and cordial. Byrne responded that Ryan was his cousin and accepted Tommy’s offer. They entered the parlor to continue their discussion. Byrne told Tommy about Danny, who kept running his mouth about the guns. Tommy responded that Danny was crazy. Although Danny is arguably crazy, Byrne told Tommy about his connections inside the BSA factory, and everyone pointed their finger at the Peaky Blinders. Byrne wants Tommy to deliver the guns, or he’d kill him and everyone in his family.
[00:19:00] Tommy told Byrne that he did have the guns, but he wouldn’t give them up for free. He told Byrne that he could have the guns for the right price. Byrne sat his ass down to continue their parley. Tommy met with Campbell inside the Chinese tailor shops. He pointed out Byrne from a wanted poster. Tommy needed the help of Campbell to nail Byrne. Campbell agreed to help out to further their cause. Tommy asked Campbell who sold Freddie to him. Campbell just responded that it was him. Arthur Sr. went by the betting shop to get the money from Arthur Jr. They met through the back, and Arthur gave all the money without a single shred of doubt. Arthur Sr. told him to meet back at the boxing ring on Friday, so they could leave for America.
[00:22:00] Grace was cleaning inside the pub when she heard a knock on the door. She opened the bar, and Tommy went inside. He told Grace what was about to go down. He gave Grace a pistol and told her to hide and wait for his signal. Tommy told Grace that she only needed to come out and show the gun. At the strike of 12 midnight, two men approached the pub and went inside. It was Byrne and his associate. Sergeant Moss was outside with his men waiting for their signal. Tommy showed Byrne a map for the guns while his associate gave him the money. Byrne planned to double-cross Tommy, so he gave Grace the signal, and she came out and shot the associate. There was a struggle between Tommy and Byrne. Tommy was able to break free, and he killed Byrne using a spittoon.
[00:26:30] Tommy asked Grace why she shot the associate. Grace responded that she didn’t know that she had it in her to kill someone. Sergeant Moss and his men entered the bar, but they were too late. Tommy told them that Byrne and his associate refused to surrender, so he killed them. Sergeant Moss commented that Byrne looked like he was killed by a wild animal. Tommy asked the police to remove the corpse from the pub. Sergeant Moss agreed, and they dragged the corpse away. Tommy escorted Grace home, and he apologized for what happened.
[00:30:00] Grace met with Inspector Campbell at the park. Campbell apologized to Grace for what happened. He didn’t know that Tommy would involve her with his business. Grace pointed out that she had already told him about being promoted into the Peaky Blinders, but he didn’t listen. Campbell wanted to know if Sergeant Moss’s report was true. He asked Grace if they were seen hugging inside the Garrison pub last night. Grace responded that the hugging was the least of his worries. She confessed that she killed the IRA men last night. Campbell told Grace that she lost control because she’s been living with the Peaky Blinders. Grace told Campbell that she no longer felt the hatred towards the IRA and no longer needed to avenge her father. She wanted to resign from her post, but she made a deal with Campbell.
[00:31:30] Grace knew where the guns were hidden, but she didn’t want Tommy to be harmed. She asked Campbell if they would leave Birmingham once they recovered the weapons. Campbell wanted to know why Grace wanted to save Tommy. Grace responded that she was doing it out of sympathy because Tommy had been good to her during her stay. Campbell gave his word to Grace that he wouldn’t harm Tommy once they found the guns. They left the park, and Grace told Campbell about Danny’s grave. She thinks the guns are buried there since only the Shelby brothers attended Danny’s burial, and they lined the grave with lead. Grace sang at the pub that night. Tommy arrived just in time to witness her sing. Meanwhile, Ada continued to struggle with her son. Arthur went to the boxing ring to meet with his father, but Arthur Sr. was a no-show.
[00:34:00] Inspector Campbell dug up Danny’s grave and found the guns and ammunition he had been looking for. Grace went to the grave the next day to find Campbell, and his men were done digging up the guns. Campbell informed her that only one gun was unaccounted for. Grace formally resigned from her position. Campbell accepted her resignation and told her that they were no longer connected through work. He took out a ring and asked Grace’s hand for marriage. Campbell confessed his love for Grace, but she refused. Campbell angrily asked her if she was in love with Tommy. Grace didn’t answer the question; she told Campbell that all the paperwork would be on his desk the next morning.
[00:36:30] Arthur went to the train station to see his father. Arthur Sr. was preparing to leave when he saw Arthur Jr. His father told him that there wasn’t a Shelby Casino and Hotel in the making; he just made the story up to convince him for money. Arthur called his father a liar and a thief. He responded with a bible quote, “Do not despise the thief if he steals to satisfy his starvation.” Arthur Sr. told him that he’d been starving for so long, which was why he lied to him. Arthur couldn’t accept what happened; he waited for him at the boxing ring last night. He charged at his father, but he couldn’t do anything as Arthur Sr. threatened to kill him. Arthur mustered all of his strength to walk away. He went back to the betting shop where Aunt Pol was waiting.
[00:39:00] Aunt Pol asked Arthur where his father was. She knew that Arthur stole money from the Peaky Blinders and gave it to his father. From the dreary look on Arthur’s face, Aunt Pol assumed that Arthur Sr. had left with the money. She asked what Arthur was thinking stealing from them. Arthur asked Aunt Pol if Tommy already knew what had happened. She told him that he was going to tell Tommy himself. Meanwhile, Inspector Campbell rounded up his men and instructed them to arrest Tommy. Finn and Tommy went to Danny’s graveyard and saw that someone dug it up. Inspector Campbell also received Grace’s resignation along with all her paperwork. Despite his word to Grace, he has a personal vendetta with Tommy. Tommy told Finn to hide and look out for himself; he knew that trouble was brewing, and he didn’t want him to be there when everything went down.
[00:41:00] Arthur went to the boxing ring drunk and eager to fight. The ringmaster told him that the fight was over, and they were moving on to a new area. Arthur still wanted to fight someone, but the ringmaster told his men to just leave him. Harry told Grace about the police coming down to the pub to arrest Tommy. She informed Tommy, who risked his safety and went to the pub to inform her. Finn ran inside the parlor to inform Tommy that the police were coming. Grace told Tommy to come with him. The police raided their betting shop while Inspector Campbell and Sergeant Moss went to the pub. He asked everyone inside about Tommy. Harry told him that he hadn’t heard about Thomas Shelby. Finn told Campbell that he wasn’t going to find Tommy. His response pissed Campbell off. He took out his pistol and aimed at Harry’s head.
[00:44:00] Harry tried to lie, but with a gun to his head, he gave in. Harry told Campbell that Grace had taken Tommy to her apartment. The information broke Campbell’s heart; it confirmed his suspicions that Grace fell in love with the enemy. Campbell called off the search for Tommy despite Sergeant Moss’s disapproval. Grace and Tommy arrived at her apartment. She offered Tommy tea, but he refused. Grace offered rum, but Tommy knew that tea was the better option. Tommy told Grace that he would leave once the trouble died down. Grace knew that Tommy would stay the night. Tommy confirmed that he might need to stay the night. Tommy asked Grace to dance as Inspector Campbell lurked in an alleyway outside the apartment. He saw Grace and Tommy dancing inside her apartment. They spent the night in each other’s arms.
[00:49:00] After the sex, Tommy told Grace that he no longer heard the pickaxes on the walls. He asked Grace for her help. Tommy wanted Grace to be part of his life. Meanwhile, Arthur remained at the boxing ring. He saw a jump rope and tried to hang himself on a steel hook. He almost succeeded, but the rope broke under his weight. Inspector Campbell called Churchill’s office to inform them of the good news. He told them that he was leaving the city after he finished with personal matters. Morning came, and Tommy went back to the betting shop. He saw Arthur, but Tommy already knew what had happened. Tommy wasn’t angry at Arthur. He told him that he should’ve used a gun instead of hanging himself.
[00:55:00] Tommy showed Arthur a business card of the Shelby Brothers LTD. He told Arthur that he and Johnny wouldn’t mind splitting their shares of the business, but until then, they were moving up in the world. Things were looking brighter for the Shelby family.
