Richard Harrison, one of the lead actors of The History Channel’s reality show Pawn Stars, died Monday, June 25 at the age of 77. Harrison, who’s also known as “Old Man” in the show, succumbed to Parkinson’s disease.
Parkinson disease is a type of movement disorder. It happens when nerve cells in the brain don’t produce enough brain cells called dopamine. Richard, on the other hand, has been battling with the disease for a long time.
Harrison’s son and co-actor in Pawn Stars, Rick Harrison, confirmed the death of his father on his Instagram and wrote, “He was my hero, and I was fortunate to get a very cool ‘Old Man’ as my dad.” Rick also said that his dad lived a full life through History’s Pawn Stars—touching the lives of many all over the country and teaching them the value of loving family, hard work, and humor. Corey, Harrison’s grandson, also wrote a message on his Instagram that Harrison was not just a grandfather to him but also a best friend. Corey and Rick are asking for privacy as they mourn Harrison’s passing.
Nevertheless, Harrison passed away surrounded by his family and friends.

The History Channel also extended their condolences to the Harrison family as they have been a big part of Pawn Stars. The hit reality show first aired back in 2009 and continues to give others hope for a new meaning and value for their treasured stuff. Pawn Stars is also one of History Channel’s most popular programs, with the three generations of the Harrison family—Richard, Rick, and grandson Corey—leading the reality show.
Pawn Stars just finished its 15th season on The History Channel, but it’s unclear if the reality series will continue without Richard “Old Man” Harrison.
