Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman 3 Allegedly Cancelled

DC fans are surely in for a ringer today. After Gal Gadot made her post celebrating her being announced as Wonder Woman, a lot of fans were wondering if they were going to get an update soon. What they didn’t know was that the update was that the next Wonder Woman film from Patty Jenkins has been cancelled.

THR reports that DC is not moving forward with Patty Jenkins’ plan for Wonder Woman 3. We don’t know how long the movie has been in development, but it’s said that it would bring Wonder Woman to the current era, after two films that were both period pieces.

This was Gadot’s post:

We don’t know why Jenkins’ project was cancelled, but some fans had started to be sceptical of her next project after what happened with Wonder Woman 1984. Besides the film releasing in the end of the pandemic, a lot of people were kind of surprised by the shift in tone, and it feels like the gravity of the first film was kind of undermined by having Diana be some kind of celibate that couldn’t get over Steve Trevor after so many decades.

Not to mention there have been discussions that she ‘rapes’ the guy whose body Steve Trevor takes over.

I’ll admit, the movie was incredibly cheesy compared to the first film, but if it managed to give some little girls their own superhero, I’m not really complaining.

We don’t know what’s in store for Wonder Woman in the future, but I’m hoping new DC heads James Gunn and Peter Safran know what they’re doing.
