Patrick J. Adams and Meghan Markle to Exit 'Suits' After Season 7

It looks like Mike Ross and Rachel Zane’s days at Pearson Specter Litt are numbered. “Suits” Season 7 is currently on its midseason break, but once the seventh season ends, Patrick J. Adams and Meghan Markle won’t be returning for the eight season—at least, not as a series regular.
Following Gina Torres’ departure as series regular, Deadline reports that the contracts for Adams and Markle are up for season 7, and they have most likely fulfilled their parts for the current narrative of the USA Network’s popular legal drama series. According to the report, Adams has been eyeing his exit earlier this year, following his marriage with actress Troian Bellisario. Adams jumpstarted his career when he first appeared in “Suits,” starring as Gabriel Macht’s co-lead and later on the co-producer of the show. Markle, on the other hand, is currently dating Prince Harry (with an engagement coming soon?), and so it’s likely that she’s leaving the show to pursue a more serious relationship with the prince.

In the “Suits” storyline, Mike and Rachel are now engaged. Series creator Aaron Korsh has teased that their long-postponed wedding might happen during the second half of season 7, so they might be off for a more intimate relationship as a couple as well, maybe even giving up their careers as lawyers—albeit temporarily.
“They all have things going on in their lives, we’ll see what happens,” Korsh said of the cast members’ contract expirations. “This is true on all long-running shows, and people have things happening in their lives. I’m going to let what happens happen and hope it all works out.”
