Pain is Pleasure in Trailer for Hellraiser Reboot

Clive Barker had brought together the horrific and erotic with the Cenobites in Hellraiser, and now the franchise is looking to make a comeback this Halloween season.

Just in, Hulu has dropped the first trailer for the Hellraiser reboot, and it features a glowed-up pinhead as well as some familiar and new creatures from Hell. Watch this:

The official description reads:

In “Hellraiser,” a young woman struggling with addiction comes into possession of an ancient puzzle box, unaware that its purpose is to summon the Cenobites, a group of sadistic supernatural beings from another dimension.

Though Barker is only attached as a producer for this movie this time, he did hand over directing reigns to David Bruckner, who horror fans know best for his work on V/H/S and The Ritual. Just looking at the trailer alone, you can tell that everything from the designs of the costumes to the visual language has all been updated to modern movie standards.

I’ll admit, Hellraiser is a pretty obscure franchise when it comes to other 80s icons, but the imagery of Pinhead has always been iconic, and I can’t wait to see a new take on these bondage lovers from another dimension. So far fans of the original seem pleased with this take, and this should be a great introduction point for audience members who have no idea what Hellraiser was in the first place.

Hellraiser comes to Hulu this Halloween season Oct. 7.
