Pacific Rim: The Black Returns for a Second Season in Latest Trailer

We may not know if Pacific Rim will ever come back to the big screen, but Netflix is keeping the IP alive with the anime Pacific Rim: The Black. The first season came out last year, and now we have a trailer for the second (and final) season.

Watch this:

The epic series conclusion! After Kaiju ravage Australia, two siblings pilot a Jaeger to search for their parents, encountering new creatures, seedy characters and chance allies.

Just like the first season, this return of The Black seeks to expand on the lore of this world riddled with Kaiju and Jaegers. While the story has been skirting off the sci-fi genre to delve more into fantasy, it looks like the second season goes all-in with Hayley and Taylor having to go up against a group of creepy ghost ladies who can apparently control Kaijus.

Admittedly the series was met with divisive reviews when it came out, but fans of the franchise really enjoyed how it was able to build on the lore that was established in the original films.

With this season marking the end for Pacific Rim on Netflix, it’s curious if there are any more plans for the IP moving forward. Personally, I liked a lot of things that came out of Uprising, but the movie certainly had problems. Maybe we can get a return in the next few years—if anything, they should just have the Jaegers clash with the established Kaiju monsters from Godzilla vs. Kong. Make it happen, Legendary!

Pacific Rim: The Black returns to Netflix on April 19.
