Despite its critical and box office success, we never really got a sequel to Disney’s Big Hero 6. Almost a decade into its release though, we’re going to going to be getting a spinoff series based on everyone’s favorite healthcare companion.
Watch the latest preview for Baymax!:
The all-new series of healthcare capers returns to the fantastical city of San Fransokyo where the affable, inflatable, inimitable healthcare companion robot, Baymax, sets out to do what he was programmed to do: help others.
Though we won’t be able to watch Baymax flying around with the rest of the team, he will be interacting with the regular citizens of San Fransokyo. Series creator and Big Hero 6 director Don Hall says about Baymax!, “In each of our six episodes, Baymax just wants to help someone—and a lot of times they don’t want to be helped. He sets out to fix a physical issue that he’s identified, and in the process, gets to a deeper, more emotional place and can be almost transformative in that role.”
So far, it looks like the trailer has properly given us a look at the six people that Baymax will be interacting with on the series, and while we know that he’s going to be having moments with characters like Aunt Cass, and a street cat, I think that we’re also going to have one episode that deals with the main duo of Baymax and Hiro (even Hiro’s microbots from the film are back).
Baymax! premieres on Disney+ on June 29.
