The series may not be arriving this Halloween, but Wednesday has the month of November to dominate with her dark sense of humor. Just in, we have a new inside look from Netflix on Wednesday and how Tim Burton helps bring the series to life.
Check this out:
For the dark brand that The Addams Family is known for, it’s actually crazy that someone like Tim Burton hasn’t worked on it before. I mean, he’s brought us things like The Nightmare Before Christmas and Beetlejuice, but this is his first time working on an Addams Family project?
Like the showrunners explain in the featurette, Burton does have an interesting visual style, and besides his look for the characters, he also has a very vibrant take when it comes to color and how it’s portayed onscreen. Despite Wednesday’s dark character, the series does have a very bright palette; I guess it does further emphasis the dark on Wednesday when she put against all of these hues.
So far, the series is looking interesting, and while it’s not about the Addams Family as a whole, I think Wednesday is a cool enough character to have the entire story focus on her. I guess the family member guest appearance once in a while is also fun.
WEDNESDAY — starring Jenna Ortega in the title role, alongside Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzman, Gwendoline Christie, Christina Ricci and more — is a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy. Snap snap.
Wednesday premieres on Netflix on Nov. 23.
