After a significant delay (and some possible rewrites), WB is finally ready to come back to the Wizarding World with Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore. Just in, we got a new trailer, and it teases an uprising in the Magical World before the time of Voldemort.
Check it:
Though the film series did start with Newt Scamander as the lead, the sequels have slowly put him on the sideline, with the clash between Dumbledore and Grindelwald being hyped as the big showdown. With the series keeping the Fantastic Beasts title, hopefully Newt and friends manage to keep being integral to the story.
While the script for the first movie wasn’t perfect, it wasn’t until the second film that J.K. Rowling’s screenwriting talents (or rather lack of) started becoming very apparent. With Potter screenwriter Steve Kloves now onboard, Rowling has someone to help her better tell the story that’s in her head.
Professor Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) knows the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Mads Mikkelsen) is moving to seize control of the wizarding world. Unable to stop him alone, he entrusts Magizoologist Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) to lead an intrepid team of wizards, witches and one brave Muggle baker on a dangerous mission, where they encounter old and new beasts and clash with Grindelwald’s growing legion of followers. But with the stakes so high, how long can Dumbledore remain on the sidelines?
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore comes out April 15.
