Director Dan Trachtenberg is set to revolutionize the Predator franchise with his new entry Prey, and the movie is set to go back hundreds of years to when the Predators first came on Earth. To give us an insider look at the movie, Hulu has dropped a new featurette and it features the film’s new lead Amber Midthunder.

Admittedly, the Predator franchise had been floundering at the box office with the last two reboot attempts not really getting off the ground. If anything, it’s kind of a relief that the franchise has been forced to try and inject something entirely new to the story—resulting in this wild concept of a period piece with a Predator going up against an ancient Comanche warrior.
We don’t know where the franchise could lead if Prey is a success, but I wouldn’t mind anthology entries moving forward, with predators visiting different eras in history and taking on the elite warriors of that time. How about Predators taking on Samurai? You think they can jump further back in time and fight knights in armor?
Set in the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, “Prey” is the story of a young woman, Naru, a fierce and highly skilled warrior. She has been raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains, so when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people. The prey she stalks, and ultimately confronts, turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator with a technically advanced arsenal, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries.
Prey starts streaming on Hulu this weekend Aug. 5.
