DC may have taken the concept of Atlantis with Aquaman, but Marvel is going a different direction with the Submariner Namor. In a new featurette for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, we have a new look at the ‘Feather Serpent God’ and his underwater nation of Talocan.
Watch this:
Though we know that Namor and Talocan will clash with Wakanda, it’s still pretty unclear what they will be fighting about. Speculations say that Talocan will want to go up against the surface world because of some experiments that Victor Von Doom’s company is conducting, but nothing official has been confirmed yet.
If anything, there seems to be a lot of similarities with Wakanda and Talocan. Besides being hidden cities, they are (or rather were) both ruled by young kings; it’s even revealed that Talocan has some kind of ‘hadouken’ salute like Wakanda and their crossed arms. Namor would have been a great foil to T’Challa onscreen, but I guess we’ll just have to see how they managed to rewrite the story and incorporate the death of Chadwick Boseman into the clash with Talocan.
Queen Ramonda, Shuri, M’Baku, Okoye and the Dora Milaje fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death. As the Wakandans strive to embrace their next chapter, the heroes must band together with Nakia and Everett Ross to forge a new path for their beloved kingdom.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever comes to cinemas on Nov. 11.
