New Avatar: The Way of Water Featurette Shines Light on Returning Cast and Characters

Avatar: The Way of Water released last week, and everyone is raving about the return to Pandora. While the plot of the film was mostly kept under wraps before it came to cinemas, we now have some new featurettes talking about the characters and the actors that have come back to the franchise since the 2009 film.
Check this out:
Though the movie may focus on a younger cast, the featurette does look closer at the returning cast members from Zoe Saldana to Stephen Lang.
With Saldana drawing from real-life experience as a mother for Neytiri’s arc, Sigourney Weaver had to go the opposite direction and channel what it’s like to be a 14-year-old girl connected to nature.
I have to say, the character I was most surprised with was Lang’s Quaritch. Though he was a straight-up one-dimensional villain in the first movie, they managed to give him an arc in the second film that not only mirrors Jake’s journey in the first movie, but also gives him a kind of Darth Vader arc.
I’m not going to spoil anything here, but I just want to say, it was a development I was not expecting.
Here’s the film’s synopsis:
Set more than a decade after the events of the first film, “Avatar: The Way of Water” begins to tell the story of the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri, and their kids), the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure.
Avatar: The Way of Water is now screening in theaters.
