While Big Mouth is admittedly not everyone’s cup of tea, the show has managed to impress the higher-ups at Netflix, and it looks like we’ll be seeing more hormone monsters and shame wizards for the following year.
Deadline reports that Netflix has renewed Big Mouth for a seventh season, and has also given the green light to the spinoff Human Resources. While Human Resources premiered earlier 2022, the sixth season of Big Mouth is set to release sometime later this year.
We don’t have any details as to what to expect with Big Mouth, but the show has been steadily following the development of the main characters Nick, Jessi, and Andrew. With the show being pretty extensive with the characters’ journey through puberty, I’m thinking the latter seasons will see a significant change in all of them—maybe even go so far as to follow them into senior high, then college.
As for Human Resources, the show still manages to have the signature humor of Big Mouth, but this time it isn’t bogged down to just the problems of Nick and his friends. Oddly enough, even the monsters and creatures have their own relatable issues, and it makes for some interesting drama.
As I said, the show isn’t for everyone, but the writing is solid, and it actually gives a lot of great insight to the human condition. We don’t know what the endgame is for the story overall, but I’m having fun so far.
Catch Big Mouth and Human Resources now on Netflix.
