Few more episodes before Shalita Grant bid her goodbye to “NCIS New Orleans.” So for now, viewers will have to savor the upcoming episode heading to Grant’s exit in April.
In the previous episode, “NCIS New Orleans” Season 4 viewers as well as Special Agent Christopher Lasalle (Lucas Black) have noticed that Special Agent Sonja Percy is MIA. Lasalle asked Special Agent Tammy Gregorio (Vanessa Ferlito) about his partner, but Gregoria just shut him down and insist that Percy is just having her personal time.
Percy’s absence in their previous case could be connected to the upcoming episode of “NCIS New Orleans.” The official synopsis for Episode 15 states that Percy is sent undercover as a getaway driver while FBI Special Agent Raymond Isler (Derek Webster) will try to gain access with a group that is involved in an opioid operation.
“NCIS New Orleans” Season 4 Episode 15 Preview
In the episode titled “The Last Mile,” Isler will personally ask for Special Agent Dwayne Pride’s (Scott Bakula) help with opioids theft investigation that he is personally invested in. Since it is an off-the-books mission, they need someone who will go undercover with Isler.
Knowing Percy’s service record, she has done a number of undercover jobs. In fact, before she signed up for NCIS, she worked for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) where she did some undercover operations. She also agreed to do the same job for Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA).
Last month, Grant’s exit from the series has been confirmed. Reports indicated that the actress’ last appearance will be aired on April 3. It looks like “The Last Mile” episode will be Percy’s story leading to her departure. However, it is still unclear if Percy will be killed off or NCIS will offer her another job elsewhere. Fans are hoping that it’s the latter.
Shalita Grant’s Reason For Leaving “NCIS New Orleans”
Apparently, it was a personal decision for Grant. She hasn’t released an official statement about her exit. Grant’s manager Didi Rea, however, said, “It’s just time for a change. This is about moving on to the next great thing.” According to Variety, both Grant and the show’s producers came to a mutual agreement about her departure.
There were earlier speculations that Grant is quitting the show because of showrunner Brad Kern. There have been reports that Kern has been investigated for misconduct in the workplace. In previous years, Kern was accused of sexual harassment and making racist comments. However, it’s been reported that Grant’s decision has nothing to do with Kern.
This is not the first time Kern’s name has been linked to the departure of a cast member. In July 2016, it was announced that Zoe McLellan would not come back for the third installment. McLellan played the role of Special Agent Meredith Brody for two seasons. There were reports that Kern orchestrated McLellan’s exit because allegedly the actress is not appealing to male viewers.
“NCIS New Orleans” Season 4 Episode 15 airs on Feb. 27 at 10 p.m. EST on CBS.
