“NCIS Los Angeles” Season 9 still has a long way to go before its season finale. A lot of things are expected to happen in the upcoming episodes, particularly on the rescue mission of Hetty.
As expected, the LA team will not leave their beloved mentor, Hetty (Linda Hunt), alone. In the recent episode, Nell (Renée Felice Smith) and Eric’s (Barrett Foa) were able to decipher the clues left by Hetty with regards to her whereabouts.
A rescue operation is already underway. Callen (Chris O’Donnell), Sam (LL Cool J), Kensi (Daniela Ruth), and Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) travel to Vietnam to locate their boss with the permission of Assistant Director Shay Mosley (Nia Long). They are expected to track down Hetty alongside her old Vietnam vet friends – Rear Admiral Albert Jethro “A.J.” Chegwidden (John M. Jackson), Admiral Sterling Bridges (James Remar), and Captain Charles Langston (Carl Lumbly).
A clash between the two groups is inevitable but they are expected to rescue Hetty in the end. Before the big rescue mission, here is a quick recap of what the “NCIS Los Angeles” team has gone through so far this season.
New Management
The huge change in the office management is the biggest challenge for the team this season. At the beginning of Season 9, Hetty tendered her resignation as the operations manager of NCIS Los Angeles office. Mosley takes the helm as Sam decided to come back after taking a leave from work following the death of his wife in the previous season.
Callen continues to clash with Mosley. She still has issues with how Hetty’s unit performs their duty. The new boss thinks the team has been using too much lethal force in their operations. She insists on doing things with zero civilian casualties. Mosley’s assistant, NCIS Special Agent Harley Hidoko (Andrea Bordeaux), on the other hand, is doing great with the team.
MIA Henrietta Lange
After leaving NCIS, Hetty sold her properties and vanished. She later appeared in Vietnam to follow a lead about a man that turned out to be a CIA agent who was involved in the same operation that Hetty, former NCIS Assistant Director Owen Granger (Miguel Ferrer), Chegwidden, and others were part of.
The operation involved using stolen gold to pay for the ransom of captured American prisoners. Hetty’s source in Vietnam, however, betrayed her. She was later held hostage in the country.
Kensi and Deeks in “NCIS Los Angeles” Season 9
Meanwhile, Kensi and Deeks are now engaged and have been planning their wedding. Deeks and LAPD Detective Ellen Whiting’s (Karina Logue) “friendship with benefits” continues. Kensi, on the other hand, put her life in line once again to thwart the use of nuclear missiles by some rogue Air Force officers in Episode 7.
More is happening when “NCIS Los Angeles” Season 9 returns with a brand new episode on March 11 at 9 p.m. ET on CBS.
