Netflix may have an exclusive deal with Rian Johnson’s Knives Out IP, but Johnson has teamed up with Peacock for another murder-mystery property. Just in, we have a new trailer for Poker Face, and it stars Natasha Lyonne’s lie-detecting Charlie.
Check this out:
Here’s the official series description:
Poker Face is a 10-episode “mystery-of-the-week” series following Natasha Lyonne’s Charlie, who has an extraordinary ability to determine when someone is lying. She hits the road with her Plymouth Barracuda and with every stop encounters a new cast of characters and strange crimes she can’t help but solve.
While Daniel Craig’s Benoit Blanc may spend the entire movie figuring out who’s lying to him, it looks like Charlie has the magical ability to know who’s a liar—I guess she falls short by not having Blanc’s sharp sense of deduction.
Besides Lyonne, the series also includes a star-studded cast; even some actors who have worked with Johnson before like Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Brick, Looper) and Adrien Brody (The Brothers Bloom).
I’ll admit, with Johnson working on another murder-mystery series with Poker Face, he’s starting to feel boxed in as the ‘murder-mystery guy’ but with his interesting understanding of plot and expectations, I think he always has something interesting to say, whatever genre he’s working on.
I just hope he eventually gets to that Star Wars trilogy of his because I was a huge fan of what he did with The Last Jedi.
Poker Face premieres on Peacock on Peacock this coming Jan. 26.
