Morbius has Allegedly Cut One Major Spider-Man Character from the Film

Though fans weren’t expecting an appearance from Spider-Man in the Morbius movie, trailers have revealed that we would be getting an appearance from Michael Keaton reprising the role of the Vulture from Spider-Man: Homecoming. As it turns out, Keaton has allegedly been cut from the movie.

According to ComicBookMovie, several sources who have managed to get an early viewing of the film have revealed that Adrian Toomes (a.k.a. the Vulture) doesn’t appear in the actual film. He apparently shows up in the post-credits scenes, but the scenes don’t resemble any of his appearances in the trailers.

We don’t know if Sony is planning one last-minute change, but some are suspecting that they want to distance Morbius from the rest of the world of Spider-Man, seeing as the film is already getting bombarded with negative reviews. I mean, if Sony was concerned about MCU Spidey being connected to bad films, then they probably shouldn’t have connected him to Venom—then again, they used some kind of multiverse shtick, so I guess it’s all good.

Morbius is only one of several spinoffs planned for Sony’s Spider-Verse, others include Madame Web and Kraven the Hunter. We don’t know what it implies for the franchise if this film flops, but seeing as how Sony is kind of just throwing things at a wall and seeing what sticks, we’ll just have to wait and see how this ‘SUMC’ turns out in a couple of years.

Morbius is set to come to theaters on April 1.
