Moonshot Trailer Showcases a Sci-Fi Rom-Com on Mars

With Cole Sprouse being best known for Riverdale and Lana Condor for To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, the two are teaming up with HBO Max for a sci-fi romance movie called Moonshot.

Here’s the trailer:

The romantic comedy with a sci-fi twist, is set in a future where Mars is terraformed and colonized by the best humanity has to offer. Two very different college students (Sprouse and Condor) wind up joining forces and sneak onboard a space shuttle to the red planet in order to be united with their significant others.

Besides Sprouse and Condor, the movie also includes cast members Mason Gooding, Lukas Gage, Michelle Buteau, and Zach Braff.

Moonshot comes from director Christopher WInterbauer who had also done some coming-of-age/sci-fi work with last year’s Wyrm. Watch the trailer for that here:

I’ll admit, it doesn’t look as mature as the usual HBO Max fair, but with the cast being comprised of stars from teen-focused series, I think it’s clear that Moonshot is targeting the young adult audience with this movie. That being said, some of the shots do look fantastic; top that off with some atmospheric music, and you have another teen hit not unlike another hit HBO show—Euphoria.

After the over-the-top drama and general dark tone of Euphoria, HBO will need to give its younger audiences a new palette cleanser, and that looks to be Moonshot. Fingers crossed there’s something for older audiences to enjoy with the movie as well.

Moonshot hits HBO Max on March 31.
