Doctor Strange may be dominating the conversation right now, but Disney+ also saw the finale of Moon knight last week. For all the praise that Oscar Isaac has been receiving for the role of Steven Grant/Marc Spector, director Mohamed Diab talks about one scene that didn’t make the cut that apparently had Isaac at his best.
Talking to The Hollywood Reporter, Diab describes the scene:
“I think [Oscar] would say that I was just encouraging him, but I always tell him, ‘You’re going to win everything,’ because he is always great… He’s a genius actor. The irony is that my favorite scene of his got cut. It was in episode six. As great as everything else was, he actually topped it with something even better. He confronted his mom in a white void, and he was going back and forth between Marc and Steven. And oh my god. That scene by itself is an Oscar-worthy performance. Hopefully, Marvel releases that scene one day because Oscar was a genius.”
Though the writing of the show isn’t perfect, you have to commend Isaac and how he plays both the characters of Steven and Marc together. While it was interesting to watch them play off each other in earlier episodes, it was pretty crazy how Isaac then played scenes where he would just switch between both Marc and Steven repeatedly.
We don’t know what’s next for the world of Moon Knight, but it definitely looks like Marvel is setting up for more. Though the issue with Harrow has been resolved, there is now the reveal of a third, scarier personality inside Marc’s body. Can him and Steven team up to stop Jake Locksley?
