Money Heist Season 5 Episode 6 Recap – Escape Valve

[00:00:30] Everyone mourns the death of Tokyo. Sergio punches the mirror inside the bathroom, letting out all the pain. Sergio screams as he continues to vent his anger on the shards of glass falling to the floor. Benjamin hears the noise coming from the bathroom. He rushes toward the door and begs Sergio to open it. Sergio tells Benjamin to leave him alone. Meanwhile, Stockholm doesn’t have a clue about what happened to Tokyo. She laughs as the morphine surges through her veins. Denver confronts Stockholm to stop her from laughing. He tells Stockholm that Tokyo is dead. Tears quickly replace Stockholm’s laughter. She tells Denver she took some morphine, so she’s laughing uncontrollably. Stockholm asks Denver if Tokyo is really dead. Denver confirms Tokyo is dead.

[00:03:00] Marseille tries to break the door down, but Benjamin stops him. He tells Sergio to control his emotions and his breathing. Alicia has an opportunity to escape. She plans to take Marseille and Benjamin’s car. She takes whatever she can find, including Sergio’s gun. Sagasta tells Colonel Tamayo they killed Tokyo. Tamayo brags about their victory to everyone inside the command center. He stops celebrating when he discovers Tokyo managed to kill five men from Sagasta’s team, including Gandía. Tamayo wants to terminate Sagasta’s operation, but he insists on continuing. Sagasta points out that their enemies won’t see them coming. He tells Tamayo to cancel all other operations, so they won’t blow their cover.

[00:05:30] Everything is about to go to hell. Sagasta tells Palermo they have a wounded man needing help. Palermo radios Sergio that Sagasta wants to negotiate. Marseille hears Palermo’s message and goes back to check their monitors. He notices Alicia and her baby are gone. As Marseille looks at the monitors, he sees Alicia trying to steal one of their cars. He immediately tells Sergio what Alicia is doing. Sergio goes out of the bathroom and tells Marseille to come with him. Alicia starts the car and drives out of the storm drain. She sighs in relief while ramming through the gates, driving back to the city.

[00:08:00] Five days before D-day, Marseille and Berlin were flying in the middle of the Barents sea. It was the day Berlin and Bogotá met. They went there to steal the extraction pump they would use in the Bank of Spain. Bogotá and Berlin had a little argument as their ego’s collided, but they managed. Meanwhile, Sergio tells Palermo that Alicia escaped. Lisbon tells Sergio they’ll continue their plans inside the bank while he catches Alicia. Marseille and Sergio drive out of the storm drain to find Alicia. Sergio leaves Benjamin in charge while he’s outside looking for Alicia.

[00:12:00] Lisbon calls out to Matías to help them open the security door. They want to negotiate with Sagasta and whoever is left in his team. Rio goes to the door with an RPG. He wants to blow Sagasta to hell before they negotiate with him. Lisbon tells him to put the weapon down, but he refuses. Rio explains they need to kill their enemies instead of giving them a second chance. He tells Lisbon that Gandía killed Nairobi, but they kept him alive long enough for Gandía to come back and kill Tokyo. Rio tells Palermo they should be like Berlin. He knows when to kill their enemies. Lisbon tries to reason with Rio, but he won’t listen. She disarms Rio the hard way and tells him they won’t have rescued him if she was in charge, and maybe Tokyo and Nairobi would still be alive.

[00:14:00] Palermo orders Matías to continue breaking a hole through the security door. Meanwhile, the chase continues as Marseille and Sergio catch up to Alicia on the freeway. They know her location because their vehicles are synced with a geo-tracker. Sergio tells Alicia she has nowhere to go because she can’t clear her name. Alicia responds it’s Sergio’s fault that Tokyo and Nairobi are dead. Marseille tries to block Alicia’s path, but she just drives, forcing Marseille to get out of the way. Alicia shoots Marseille’s tires as she passes him. Marseille tells Sergio he has two flat tires, but Sergio can’t stop to pick him up. Sergio continues chasing as Marseille looks for another way to chase Alicia.

[00:18:00] Stockholm goes to check on Helsinki. He asks Stockholm who died in the fight. She calmly tells Helsinki that Tokyo’s dead. Helsinki heard four grenades go off, so he asks Stockholm who else had died. She says six soldiers from the enemy team died. Helsinki tells Stockholm things could’ve gone worse. She could’ve lost Denver and become a widow. Meanwhile, Suarez and Ángel confront Tamayo. Suarez tells him they should’ve launched a simultaneous attack instead of just sending Sagasta and his men. Ángel tells Suarez there’s no reason to keep on fighting. He tells Tamayo that Sagasta’s men have wives and families waiting for them. Tamayo doesn’t care. He gets a brilliant idea: use the death of Sagasta’s men to launch a smear campaign against Sergio and his team. Not even Tamayo’s conscience could stop him.

[00:21:00] Matías opens a hole through the security door. Palermo, Rio, Matías, and Lisbon enter the room where Sagasta waits. Rio, Lisbon, and Matías check the bodies of Sagasta’s men. Palermo sits down with Sagasta to negotiate their terms. Sagasta wants them to release one of his men needing blood transfusion and surgery. Palermo refuses. He tells Sagasta everyone stays inside the bank; the surgeon will enter. Sagasta calls out to Tamayo to get a surgeon inside the bank. He responds in agreement. Sagasta offers Palermo a cigarette as they continue their conversation. Meanwhile, Rio and Lisbon go to the kitchen to find Tokyo’s remains. Rio gets a moment with Tokyo’s soul. He takes some dirt and makes a magic door near his heart. He tells Tokyo’s soul she can enter the magic door anytime she wants.

[00:26:00] Somehow, Rio hears Tokyo say thank you before her soul leaves. Rio goes back to Lisbon to embrace her. Sergio follows Alicia’s car into an abandoned farm. He enters the barn and finds Alicia pointing her gun at him. Sergio tells Alicia to put her gun down, but she refuses. Alicia knows Sergio won’t kill her. Sergio doesn’t have any choice, so he arms his pistol and shoots Alicia, but the gun is empty. Earlier, Alicia emptied the clip before leaving the storm drain. Alicia now has Sergio in a trap. She could either kill him or let him go. Back at the bank, Denver tells Manila that he somehow understands why Tokyo killed herself. Denver tells Manila he kept thinking of her when he was in Indonesia. Denver’s statements shook Manila’s world. She didn’t know what to do.

[00:32:00] Manila still loves Denver, and Denver still has feelings for her. Manila tries to reject Denver, but she can’t. Denver suddenly kisses her; she kisses him back. Their moment is interrupted as Palermo tells them to open the door and let the surgeon inside the bank. Denver loses his shit. He doesn’t know what he is doing. Manila assures Denver the kiss doesn’t mean anything and continues with their duties inside the bank. Alicia goes back to the car to take Victoria. She finds a new vehicle inside the barn. Alicia ties Sergio up and shoves him into the trunk of the car. Marseille won’t track Alicia as she tries to escape with Sergio as her hostage.

[00:34:00] Berlin took the extraction pump from the oil barge and brought it to the mainland. They came up with a reason: they couldn’t repair the pump because of missing equipment. The foreman of the barge agreed and allowed them to take the pump back with them. Denver and Manila escort the surgeons inside the bank. Three injured men greet them: Sagasta and his man and Helsinki. They explain their injuries and leave them in the care of the two surgeons. Meanwhile, Rio and Lisbon hijack the airwaves to put out a live video from the bank. Lisbon tells everyone watching: six people died inside the bank, five soldiers and Tokyo. The people gasp in shock as the news spreads like wildfire.

[00:38:00] Lisbon tells everyone about her relationship with Tokyo. She tells them Tokyo rescued Rio because of love. Lisbon apologizes to everyone for turning their rescue attempt into a war. Lisbon admits they’re no longer worthy of their love and support. Rio joins the video and tells everyone to go home. They thank everyone who supported them, but it’s time to forget about them. They aren’t likely to get out of the bank alive. The people outside the bank started chanting, “We’re not leaving.” Tamayo hears their chant and goes outside the command center to see for himself. Tamayo furiously goes back inside the command center. He knows his smear campaign will no longer work. Lisbon wins back their supporters despite what happened inside the bank.

[00:42:00] Stockholm confronts Denver. She tells him Arturo is still alive. Stockholm apologizes to Denver for what happened between them. She realizes she almost lost him, and she doesn’t know how to continue if it happened. Stockholm knows they aren’t going to get out of the bank alive, but she doesn’t want things to be messed up between them. She tells Denver she loves him. Stockholm recalls how she fell in love with him on the first heist; that love never faded. Stockholm kisses Denver as they make love inside the Bank of Spain.

[00:45:00] Tamayo receives a call from his wife. He rushes back to his house and finds his wife tied up on a chair. Alicia points her pistol at Consuelo’s head. She wants Tamayo to confess the lies he told about her. Tamayo disagrees. He doesn’t want to end up in jail for Alicia. Tamayo tells Alicia both of them should be free instead of him ending up in jail. He tells Alicia she either gives up and gets a reduced sentence or never sees Victoria again. Tamayo pressed the panic button inside his home before he went to confront Alicia. Alicia sees the alarm; she knows she only has moments to spare before the police storm the house. Alicia knocks Tamayo unconscious and leaves.

[00:48:00] While Alicia and Tamayo are talking, Sergio plans his escape. The trunk of the old car is worn out. He removes the gag from his mouth and chews through the worn-out foam. Sergio crawls his way into the car through the back seat. He sees the address on the building. Sergio remembers the address from their files. He realizes Alicia went to Tamayo to try and clear her name. Sergio hears the police sirens. He gets out of the car and presses the buzzer of the building. He tells the person who responds that he needs to provide a letter to Colonel Tamayo. The lady opens the door for Sergio, and he hurries up the stairs. The police arrive and are hot on Sergio’s heels.

[00:50:00] With only moments to spare, Alicia finds Sergio trying to go up the stairs. He tells Alicia he is right: Tamayo won’t allow her to clear her name. Sergio knocks on the door of the lady who let him in. Alicia points her gun at the lady as Sergio closes the door behind him. He peeks through the peephole and sees the police ascend to Tamayo’s apartment.
