Money Heist Season 1 Episode 5 Recap

[00:00:10] Everyone was in shock, panicking and shouting at the top of their lungs. No one knew what to do. They carried Arturo back inside the mint to treat his injuries. He was shouting at them, telling them that they had killed Monica. Arturo requested to speak with his wife. They did their best with what they knew to provide first aid, but that was all they could do. The media were in a frenzy. They reported that the police shot a hostage. Raquel couldn’t believe what she was seeing. Everyone knew that they messed up. The Professor was also watching the news from his hideout, and even he was in a state of disbelief.

[00:04:40] Arturo needed immediate medical attention, or he could die from his wound. The crew learned first aid from the Professor, but it wasn’t a guarantee that they could save him. The Professor told them that no one was allowed to leave the bank, even if they got shot. Everyone is a clue to all their identities; hence they need to learn first aid. He showed them the major arteries that one has by drawing them on Rio using a marker. Denver opposed the idea, but Moscow told him to just listen. Rio gave someone another chance to be the dummy as he got up and started to get dressed.

[00:06:25] Nairobi volunteered, and the Professor told Tokyo to show them what she had learned. She started to draw the major arteries on Nairobi. Tokyo noticed that she had a scar beneath her pants. It was a C-section, but before she could check it out, Nairobi got up from the table and confronted her. They shoved each other, and eventually, the others intervened.

[00:08:30] Raquel was sitting inside the command center, thinking about what they had done earlier when Angel informed her that the Ministry was on the phone. He told her that they want to know who gave the command to shoot. Raquel told him that he could tell them that it was her who gave the command. Angel followed her instructions. One of the officers in the command center was obliged to take the blame, stating that he pressured her in the heat of the moment. Another man entered the command center and informed her that the ambulance she had requested already arrived. Raquel immediately contacted The Professor.

[00:09:50] She told him that they had an ambulance standing by to take Arturo to the hospital, but he refused, stating that no one was leaving the bank. Raquel insisted and convinced him that it would be a problem for the both of them if Arturo died. The Professor told her that she could send two surgeons and a nurse inside the bank. He also told her that Arturo was requesting to speak to his wife and ended the conversation. Raquel instructed her men to find Arturo’s wife.

[00:11:15] Raquel looked exhausted. She got up and went outside to a nearby ambulance. She asked a paramedic to drive for her. Angel followed her and asked how she was feeling. Raquel told him that she needed to think, so he got inside the ambulance as well. Angel assured her that he wasn’t leaving no matter what. Back inside the bank, Moscow and Denver went to vault two to check on Monica, but when they got there, she was gone. Raquel called her mother to ask for advice, she told her what happened, and her mother responded. Her mother told her that the job is difficult as it is, she shouldn’t panic or worry if she lost her job. Time is short, and it doesn’t go backward either. She should just focus on what she feels is right and to trust her instincts.

[00:16:20] Tokyo knocked on Nairobi’s door. She came to apologize for what she had done earlier. Nairobi wasn’t in the mood to talk, so she just told her that she forgives her, but Tokyo entered her room and insisted on a conversation. They talked about her son, Axel, who was seven years old. Nairobi praised her son for being a survivor. She told Tokyo that everything was going great for the two of them, but she screwed up. Nairobi left her son for a few minutes to sell pills, and he caused a commotion. Axel got a chair and climbed up the balcony of their apartment, and soon enough, the police and firemen were at the scene.

[00:18:50] Nairobi got caught with the pills and was sent to jail. Axel was adopted by different families, and Nairobi wasn’t allowed to see or call him. Even after she got out of jail, she wasn’t able to get her son. Nairobi knew the location of her son. She told Tokyo that he was in the Canary Islands with a family who owned a hotel. She vowed to get her son back and that she would not screw this heist, nor would she allow anyone to screw things up. Tokyo admired her and offered her a bottle of Tequila. They partied hard, but The Professor interrupted them. He told them that it was already 4:00 am and that they needed to sleep so that they could participate in their classes.

[00:22:30] Denver and Moscow began looking for Monica. They entered a bathroom and found her vomiting in one of the stalls. Moscow checked Monica’s temperature, and she seemed to have a fever. They wanted to bring her out of the bathroom, but she wanted to be alone for a few minutes. Denver and Moscow discussed the matter at hand. He asked Denver why he shot Monica. He explained that he had no choice because Berlin would definitely kill her either way.

[00:24:50] Moscow was mad at Berlin; he told Denver that he should have been the one to shoot her and not him. They went there for a robbery and only a robbery. They weren’t supposed to kill or save people. Back at the ambulance, Raquel was talking with Angel. He wanted to volunteer and enter the bank with the medical team, but Raquel disagreed. Angel told her that he was a weapons expert and that he could help uncover the identity of the robbers. Eventually, Raquel agreed, and they returned to the command center.

[00:26:30] Finally, Denver carried Monica out of the bathroom and back to the vault. Moscow accompanied them. Monica asked them regarding the shot that she had heard earlier. Denver responded that the police had shot one of the hostages. She wanted to know who got shot, so Moscow told her that it was the manager of the mint. Monica became frantic. She asked if Arturo had died, Denver answered that he was still alive. She wanted Denver to tell Arturo that she was still alive. Monica told them that Arturo sent her to get the phone and that Arturo might blame himself for the death of their son and herself. Moscow was surprised that Monica was pregnant; he congratulated her and checked her wound. Moscow slowly peeled off the duct tape; the wound seemed to have staple wires.

[00:28:00] Raquel had a plan to enter the bank undetected. She instructed two officers to disguise themselves as hostages and enter through a ventilation duct. Angel will enter the bank along with the medical team and survey the situation inside. Once the medical team completed their surgery, they would leave, and the two officers will take their place as hostages. Everything needed to be synchronized for their plan to work. Arturo’s wife arrived, and she talked with Raquel regarding the current situation of her husband. She told her what happened to Arturo and apologized on behalf of the police department. Raquel told her that she was there to speak with Arturo.

[00:31:15] Back in the vault, Moscow told Denver that they needed to remove the bullet from Monica’s thigh. Moscow needed a scalpel. They had a surgical kit, but it was with Berlin, so they were unable to get it. He instructed Denver to get a scalpel from the surgeons. Before he left, Monica asked him to give her note to Arturo.

[00:32:00] The Professor received a call from the command center. Raquel informed him that Arturo’s wife was on the phone. Berlin approached Arturo, who was lying on a table with a bandage above his shoulder. He asked for his wife’s name to which he responded, “Laura.” He told him that he would be able to speak with his wife. Arturo tried to act tough, but Berlin would not have it; he aimed a gun at his wound and told him that he would end him if he ever talked back again. Berlin called the command center, and they routed the call to Arturo’s wife. They spoke, and Arturo told her everything she wanted to hear. He apologized and owned his shortcomings. He told her that he would be a better husband the moment he got out of the bank.

[00:34:10] Denver arrived just in time for him to hear Arturo’s conversation with his wife. Arturo told his wife that all that mattered was her, and it was always her since the day they met, but he slipped. Instead of saying his wife’s name, he called her “Monica.” He tried to compensate by calling her Laura, but it was too late. Berlin did his best to contain his laughter at what happened. Denver crumpled Monica’s note and hid it inside his overalls. Laura just told Arturo to concentrate on getting out and bid him farewell. Berlin mocked Arturo as Nairobi informed him that the doctors are waiting outside.

[00:36:30] Berlin coordinated with Nairobi to check whether the hostages were ready for their task at hand. Nairobi informed him that they knew exactly what to do. Berlin instructed Rio to take Alison into an office and guard her. Nairobi told the hostages to put on their masks and hoods. They did as their told and followed her to take their positions. They opened the gate and let the medical team in. Angel was with them, undercover as a nurse. The moment the Professor saw Angel, he immediately knew that he was a cop. He previously saw him inside the command center when he came by to talk to Raquel. The Professor called Berlin to inform him of Angel’s real identity.

[00:38:30] Before the heist, the Professor told them that the police would try to infiltrate the bank by any means possible. He told them about the Trojan horse and how it would help them in their heist. Their plan was to identify who was the police and to place a “Trojan Horse” on him. Since they had already identified Angel, they proceeded as planned.

[00:40:00] They frisked the medical team and asked for all their items. Angel gave them his glasses; Helsinki drilled the side of the glasses and inserted a small object. Tokyo returned the glasses to him, and he didn’t notice a thing. Angel was oblivious to their plan. The medical team proceeded to Arturo. Everyone was dressed in red overalls while they pointed a gun in their direction.
