“The Mindy Project” creator and comedian Mindy Kaling is pregnant with her first child. However the actress is not publicly linked with anyone, she won’t admit who her baby daddy is. Kaling always made sure her personal life was not tabloid news. But the unexpected pregnancy has people wondering about the actress’ love life.
In an interview for the September issue of American Way, Kaling admitted she had more control over her professional life than her romantic life. She teases the romantic aspects of her life are quite mysterious.
Mindy Kaling On Being A Mom And Wedding News
Kaling shocked her fans when she confirmed her pregnancy via Instagram post. Since she hasn’t been linked to anyone since 2012, it came as a surprise that she was romantically involved and was a mother-to-be.
The “Inside Out” voice actress has always been open to having children. She admits that she is excited to be a mom. She revealed to Yahoo Style back in September 2015 that she was not actively planning on starting a family but she does see it in her future.
As for a wedding, it’s not on Kaling’s priority list. Despite the comedian has dreamt of walking down the aisle since she was a teenager. She admitted she fetishized the concept of a wedding during her teenage years. But she does admire a good marriage when she sees it.
The Mindy Project Representing The Working Mom
Unlike Kaling her character Mindy Lahiri’s love life is no mystery.
“The Mindy Project” is now on its sixth and final season. Viewers last saw her eloping with Bryan Greenberg’s Ben in the season finale. It looks like in season 6 Mindy Lahiri will face the trials and tribulation in marriage with Ben and being a mother.
For Kaling, it was important to portray the working mom on television. Her character first tried to be a stay-at-home mom but it was harder than anticipated. But she wanted another motherhood narrative for her character that did not play into the stay-at-home mom trope.
She wants to show the discomfort a lot of husbands feel when their wives have really demanding full-time job. And how it can be stressing for a marriage.
“The Mindy Project” Season 6 premieres September 12 on Hulu.
