The Witcher hasn’t even ended its run yet, but the show is already getting a House of the Dragon-type spinoff. This Christmas will see the release of The Witcher: Blood Origin, and we have a new trailer hyping up the four-part miniseries.
Watch this:
Here’s the official description:
Set in an elven world 1200 years before the time of Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri, The Witcher: Blood Origin will tell a tale lost to history: the creation of the first prototype Witcher, and the events that led to the pivotal Conjunction of the Spheres, when the worlds of monsters, men, and elves merged to become one.
Probably the biggest star in this miniseries is Michelle Yeoh who is just coming out of the hype from starring in Everything, Everywhere, All at Once. Some fans will also recognize Lenny Henry, who plays the role of the harfoot (or pre-hobbit) Sadoc Burrows in Amazon’s Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.
With the main Witcher series having lost its star Henry Cavill, Netflix may want to put a lot of focus on some non-Geralt properties for now. If anything, just like Game of Thrones, the world is vast and expansive enough that it doesn’t need to rely on just one character to keep itself interesting. The story of the first witcher could be an interesting one,and it should appease a lot of fans who are just nuts to find out more things about the lore.
The Witcher: Blood Origin premieres on Netflix on Dec. 25.
