Metallica lead vocalist James Hetfield gets cast in new Ted Bundy biopic “Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile.” According to The Wrap, Hetfield will play Bob Hayward, a Utah law enforcer who paved the way for Bundy’s arrest. He asked the killer to pull his Volkswagen over—which at that time had no lights on while on the road. Bundy is an American serial killer who pleaded guilty to kidnapping and killing more than 30 people in seven states from 1974 and 1978.
“Having spent hundreds of hours behind the scenes with James and the rest of Metallica, I have experienced his charisma and powerful presence close-up,” said Ted Bundy biopic director Joe Berlinger. “It seemed only natural that he would bring that same power and magnetism to a dramatic role, so when he agreed to my pitch that he be in the movie, I was thrilled.”
The biopic will be Hetfield’s first fiction and non-animated film on the big screen. In 2004, he starred in Metallica’s documentary “Some Kind of Monster.” It focused on the singer’s addiction to alcohol while producing their album “St. Anger” in 2003.
“Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile” is an upcoming film by Director Joe Berlinger. It is about Ted Bundy through Elizabeth Kloepfer, his girlfriend’s perspective. The film stars former Disney star Zac Efron and Golden Globe Awards nominee Lily Collins. The release of the film is not yet announced.
