Disney’s Percy Jackson series is slowly getting into shape. After the casting of Walker Scobell (The Adam Project) as the son of Poseidon, the show has finally found the “Ron and Hermione” to Percy’s “Harry”.
Variety reports that Aryan Simhadri has been cast as Grover with Leah Sava Jeffries playing Annabeth. Here’s a look at the trio together:

In the books, Grover is a satyr—meaning half boy, half-goat—who was also Percy’s best friend. I don’t want to get too much into exposition, but Grover himself becomes essential to the story of Percy and the Olympians.
On the other hand, you have Annabeth who is the daughter of Athena. Since she’s been in Camp Half-Blood longer, she knows all there is to know about being a demi-god, but she is lacking when it comes to her human half—that’s where Percy comes in to show her.
We don’t know who else could appear in the series, but we do know that The Lightning Thief has several chapters where the trio just go and have self-contained mini-adventures on their way to retrieve Zeus’ lightning bolt. Besides running into Medusa, we should expect them to get stuck in some kind of magical arcade, as well as travel to the Underworld and meet Hades.
This remake has been a long time coming, and I’m hoping that the new team learns from the mistakes of the films and really embraces what made the Olympians series unique. While YA properties are dime-a-dozen, I am eager to see the return of the kid-centric action-adventure franchise like Harry Potter.
No release date has been announced for Disney+’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
