We may be getting a Gotham Knights game from WB Games Montreal, but that property has nothing to do with The CW’s take on Gotham Knights. The show is set to premiere in 2023, but we just got a new trailer featuring Gotham’s unlikely saviors.
Watch this:
The official series description reads:
Based on characters created for DC by Bob Kane with Bill Finger. In the aftermath of Bruce Wayne’s murder, his rebellious adopted son forges an unlikely alliance with the children of Batman’s enemies when they are all framed for killing the Caped Crusader.
Though fans were expecting Batgirl, Nightwing, Robin, and Red Hood to be the Gotham Knights, it looks like The CW will be going a completely different direction, focusing on characters new and familiar from the comics. From the comics are Stephanie Brown (Spoiler), Harper Row (Bluebird), Carrie Kelley (Robin), and Duela (possibly Duela Dent). New/reworked characters include Harper’s brother Cullen and Bruce Wayne’s adoptive son Turner Hayes.
The show also features Two-Face/Harvey Dent, and though I’m not expecting him to receive his transformation in the first season, I think he’s going to be a very significant presence when it comes to the show.
We’ve gotten several iterations of Batman thanks to The CW, and even if this wasn’t the show fans were expecting, I have to applaud them for trying something a bit more different.
Catch Gotham Knights when it debuts on The CW sometime in 2023.
