Picking up immediately from the church scene, the heroes make their first ever team-up. The show finally gave us what we wanted for so long. An excellent presentation of the heroes’ powers made this episode spectacular. Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger is preparing for something big. With what we have seen in this episode, it is possible that the power duo will see more action together.
In this week’s episode of Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger, Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt) asks for Tyrone Johnson’s (Aubrey Joseph) help. Ivan Hess (Tim Kang), a man who worked with Tandy’s father, Nathan Bowen (Andy Dylan), was left in a catatonic state after the rig explosion. Because of what Ivan knew, Tandy decided to use her powers to see what is on his mind. Tandy finds a door that only Tyrone could open. After some convincing, Tyrone agrees to help her.
The Rig
As Tandy and Tyrone go through the door, a man attacks them. After their escape, they finally meet Ivan. Ivan did not know who he was, or what he was doing there, but he knew how things worked. Perhaps he thought he was in a recurring video game. However, when Tandy finds out that it was her father who kept calling Ivan’s phone, she loses her mind, too. Tandy tricks Tyrone into leaving her alone so she could talk to her father. Eventually, Tyrone helps Tandy come back to her senses. When she does, she knew what to do with Ivan.
Tandy reminds Ivan about his daughter, Mina Hess (Ally Maki). At first, Ivan does not remember her. But when Tandy tells him the secret ingredient of the cookies Mina baked for him, he snaps out of it. After the events in his mind reset one last time, the trio proceeds to put the plan into place. Ivan stops the site from falling apart while Tandy and Tyrone kept the insane rig workers away from him. When they wake up, Ivan completely forgets who they are, but he asks for his daughter.
Tandy and Tyrone’s chemistry was perfect. Seeing them work together was something the viewers desperately wanted, and the show did not disappoint. The plot of the episode kind of reminds me of another show called Reverie but in a good way. The episode had a light comedy element because of Ivan Hess. Also, Tandy and Tyrone had their first fight. This sounds like good news to anyone who ships them.
Someone who Understands
At the end of the episode, Tyrone calls Tandy. He lets her listen to an old recording of his brother and him, rapping. Tyrone knew that Tandy would understand how he felt. After the tape plays, Tandy asks him to play it again. This episode is hinting at something happening between Tyrone and Tandy’s relationship.
Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger continues Thursday, July 19th, with “Ghost Stories” at 8/9c on Freeform.
