You would not need extensive knowledge about Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger to watch this episode, unlike the previous one. The plot was relatively simple, but it did not fail to give a good story. The protagonists finally have their long-awaited reunion, and some things about their powers become clear. The lives that the supporting characters lead takes the spotlight. However, one question remains: Are they better together, or apart?
In this week’s episode of Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger, Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt) and Tyrone Johnson (Aubrey Joseph ) finally have the conversation about their powers. Separately, each of them discovers secrets of their past that unlocks new ways of attaining justice for the loss of their loved ones. As unexpected events happen, the duo finds the courage to face the challenges despite being separated.
Powers
Tandy and Tyrone finally have the talk that they needed. Ever since their encounter at the party, their powers have spiraled out of control. They each knew that their contact was the start of all of this. Their abilities were as strong as they were unpredictable. They recount the times when their powers suddenly manifested as well as the times it brought them together. Perhaps they were meant to use the power in such a way that would require the presence of one another.
Because of what they had realized, they try to activate their powers once more. At first, it did not seem to have an effect when they merely stood in front of each other, but when their skin touch, they are sent flying into the air. They still had a lot to learn about their powers. However, no one was there to train them; they had to do it together. Or could they do it apart?
The duo starts to disagree. The thing was that Tyrone and Tandy barely knew each other. One wrong word by either of them would cause them to start an argument. Unfortunately, this was the path that their previously pleasant conversation decided to take. As Tyrone walked out of the church, Tandy began to pound on some of her drugs to snort them.
Spy Boy
Tyrone skips breakfast with his family. After seeing Evita Fusilier (Noëlle Renée Bercy), Tyrone rides his bike to the police station. He tries to fake getting his bike stolen, but he could not stand waiting inside the police station, so he leaves before the police officer could document his case. When he arrives home, his father, Otis Johnson (Miles Mussenden) confronts him about his stolen bolt cutters. When he finds them in Tyrone’s bag, he decides to take him somewhere.
Otis drives Tyrone to the set of the Wild Red Hawks of the 94. At first, the members of the tribe are reluctant to welcome him back as their Spyboy. Still, they accept him again after proving his loyalty to them. Tyrone looks around the house, and he finds his brother’s obituary. Their leader, Big Chief Roland Duplanter (Luray Cooper) approaches him. Big Chief tells Tyrone about how his brother was supposed to take Otis’ place as Spyboy. Big Chief also explains what a Spyboy is: he is responsible for looking out for threats against the tribe as well as warning them about it.
Otis introduces their tribe’s tradition of making their suits to represent themselves. When it was Tyrone’s turn to choose an unfinished costume, he unknowingly picks his brother’s unfinished cloak. At first, Otis tells him to bring it back, but once Tyrone says that he was going to finish it for Billy, Otis let him work on it, He even helped Tyrone place some of the beads.
The next morning, Tyrone cooks breakfast for the family. They have a great time talking to each other while they ate. At that same morning, Tyrone finally dared to enter the police station again. He asks to see Detective Brigid O’Reilly.
The Lawsuit
Tandy returns to her mother, Melissa Bowen’s (Andrea Roth) house, bringing coffee. She expresses her dislike for Greg (Gary Weeks), Melissa’s boyfriend and lawyer who works on their case against Roxxon, the company where her father once worked. Tandy labels him as a stereotype: a married man who likes banging her mom. Greg returns to their home bringing groceries.
As Greg started to prepare their breakfast, Tandy gets to know him. She used her powers on him, and she saw a vision of him, her, and Melissa, happily preparing a meal together. Because of what she saw, Tandy felt comfortable around him. Eventually, Tandy heads to his office to help him with their case against Roxxon.
That evening, Greg’s wife calls while they are having dinner. Melissa is pissed, so she decides not to have dinner anymore. Tandy loses her appetite as well, although she does not ignore Greg. Tandy helps him pack the leftovers so they would have something to eat the next day as they worked on the case. Sometime later, Tandy follows Greg to his office. She witnesses his unfortunate murder and the burning of his office by a lady assassin.
Tandy arrives back home to tell her mother about what she saw, but when she hears her calling Greg’s phone, she breaks down and cries outside her mom’s room. She left the house to try to commit suicide the next morning, but her powers save her when she cuts herself free from the rope and chains she used to bind herself using her light dagger.
