'Marvel's Cloak and Dagger' Season 1, Episode 2 'Suicide Sprints' Recap: Control [SPOILERS]

The second episode of Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger airs immediately after “First Light.” It is a direct continuation of the events from the previous episode. Also, it introduces a strange new character who barely says a word, making her mysterious. The struggles that the main characters experience due to their powers become challenging, and just like in reality, the consequences of their actions make it difficult to live.

In this episode of Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger, Tyrone Johnson (Aubrey Joseph) becomes obsessed with having revenge for his brother’s murder. Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt) tries to run away from her problems, inflicting pain on the people who love her the most. Meanwhile, Detective Brigid O’Reilly (Emma Lahana) works on a case that marks Tandy as her new target.

Revenge

Tyrone has breakfast with his mother, Adina Johnson (Gloria Reuben) and his father, Michael Johnson (Miles Mussenden). Before Tyrone leaves the house, Michael asks him to be more like his mother, especially when dealing with tough times. Tyrone talks to Father Delgado (Jaime Zevallos) before the mass. He scolds Tyrone for his actions during the game. As Tyrone starts ranting about the anger he feels, the bell rings, ending their conversation.

As Father Delgado gives his sermon, Evita Fusilier (Noëlle Renée Bercy) sits beside Tyrone. She texts him, asking him about what happened after the party. When Evita makes a joke about him being too kind, Tyrone gets an idea. He asks her to cover for him at lunch. Tyrone goes back to Roxxon Corporation building, trailing Connors’ (J.D. Evermore) car. Hours later, Tyrone wakes up. He sees that Connors’ car was gone. Tyrone checks his phone, finding multiple text messages. He was late for basketball practice, so he starts to run back to school.

Tyrone arrives at the gym. Their coach (Jim Klock) scolds him for both being late as well as for his actions during the game. He punishes the team. Tyrone tries to take the punishment for them, but the coach sends him to the bleachers. That evening, Tyrone runs laps inside the gym, alone. When he tires himself out, Father Delgado comes in, handing him a towel.

As Tyrone prepares to leave the gym, some of his teammates show up then they proceed to beat him. When they were gone, Tyrone finds himself locked up in the equipment cages. He uses a baseball bat to destroy the locks. After calling his mom, Tyrone stalks Connors once more but chickens out when he accidentally makes a noise. Tyrone then goes home to find his mom still doing chores after having a long day at work.

Adina collapses after Tyrone saw a vision of him, her, and his brother in a grocery. He covers her with a blanket and then he decides to go after Connors. Connors tries to run away from Tyrone who pointed a gun at him. Tyrone eventually catches him; then he pulls the trigger.

A New Identity

Tandy wakes up, pained by the injuries she sustained last night. When she meets Liam Walsh (Carl Lundstedt) in his car, she tells him what happened, and that she needed to get out of town for her safety. Realizing how deep into trouble she was, Liam decides to pay a visit to one of his contacts who could help them.

Liam tries to negotiate with Elmer for flexible payment terms regarding Tandy’s new legal papers. She goes to her mother’s house, hoping to find her stash of money and medicine. When Tandy comes home, her mother, Melissa Bowen (Andrea Roth) and her mother’s boyfriend, Greg. She was disappointed at what she saw, and when Tandy looks for her stash in the comfort room, she finds out that her mother had used up both the money and the meds. Tandy angrily left the house.

Since Liam and Elmer could not come to terms, Tandy jumps into the conversation, coming up with a bold plan to have money. Liam and Tandy gatecrash a wedding reception, pretending to be guests. They eye out their targets, and as the dinner started, they play their parts. At some point during the reception, Tandy’s powers begin to manifest, but she eventually controls it. During the dance, Tandy runs to the comfort room, disturbed by a vision of her and Liam, dancing during their wedding reception.

Inside the comfort room, Tandy meets Delia (Chelle Ramos) who comforts her. Tandy sees that she has the purse with money, so she tells Liam as soon as she exits the comfort room. As soon as the reception ended, Liam and Tandy escape using the bridal car. They get back to Elmer’s dry cleaning shop to return the clothes they needed, then Tandy leaves Liam.
