On episode 9 of “Married at First Sight,” the three couples, namely Shawniece Jackson and Jephte Pierre, Molly Duff and Jonathan Francetic, and Jaclyn Schwartzberg and Ryan Buckley, celebrated their one-month anniversary. The couples have been through a substantial life-changing event in a short time but still are in the process of improving their relationship as husband and wife.
Trying to fix their relationship
During last week’s episode, Molly and Jonathan had a heated argument about Jonathan’s frustration about mixed signals in their relationship. Jonathan also felt that Molly was not ready for any physical intimacy with him. But it seems that Jonathan couldn’t just give up their marriage yet. He surprised his wife with purple and white flowers, the colors of their wedding. Molly asked if those flowers serve as a peace offering and Jonathan answered that it’s also a “white flag scenario,”It means that Jonathan wants to settle issues with his wife. Jonathan said that at the end of the day, he doesn’t want to fight with Molly and more than anything, he wants their marriage to work.
Jonathan looks like he’s more mature in their relationship now. He said that he’s trying his very best to prioritize the wants and needs of their marriage other than his own needs. Molly, on the other hand, said that she’s also doing her best to show how much she cares for his husband. She also added that she wanted to marry on “Married at First Sight” so she will continue trying and never give up. The couple both intended to keep their relationship as healthy as it can be.
Molly and Jonathan decided to have a date together. They went apple picking and drank beer. They also baked an apple pie when they got home. The couple then talked about how many kids they’d like to have. Jonathan jokingly said that he wanted 6 to 9 kids, but Molly immediately disagreed and firmly stated that two is enough.
Amidst all doubts and worries
Meanwhile, Molly met up with Jaclyn in her room. They talked about their relationship with their husbands while looking at some pictures.
Jaclyn shared that she is afraid Ryan wouldn’t have enough time for her. She said that Ryan is already going out twice a week with his friends and goes home anytime he wanted. Molly thought that after their date at the soccer field, Ryan would make her more a priority in his life. But it didn’t turn out to be that way. Molly confessed that she doesn’t want to be married to somebody who isn’t home sleeping with her on most weeknights. She thinks that if Ryan did not make time for her, their relationship could go in a wrong direction.
But despite those uncertainties and worries on Jaclyn’s mind, she gave a gift to her husband–a scrapbook containing some of their memorable pictures. In exchange, Ryan cooked and served breakfast in bed for his wife and gave her a gift certificate to receive a professional massage.
A happy couple, happy life
Shawniece and Jephte went out on a date where a cake which is inspired by their wedding was served. Shawniece said that seeing the top of the cake brings back many memories of their marriage.
The couple exchanged gifts, and Shawniece gave Jephte socks and a new shirt. Jephte laughed at her gifts but showed his appreciation for her effort. He said that even though Shawniece doesn’t know him that much at least, she gave something based on what she observed.
Jephte gave Shawniece a snow globe with a married couple inside and had the words “one month down and forever to go” engraved on it. He also gave her a large canvas with “Mr. and Mrs. Pierre” written on it. Shawniece couldn’t help but cry for her husband’s sweet gestures and effort.
As they continue their date, they talked about the possible names of their kids. Shawniece pointed out that she wants “Jackson” if it’s a boy, but Jephte insisted that their first son should be named after him.
“Married At First Sight” continues next Tuesday, March 12th, at 9/8c on the Lifetime channel.
