‘Married at First Sight’ Season 6, Episode 17 ‘Reunion Special’ Recap: The Aftermath of Decision Day [SPOILERS]

One week after the Decision Day in “Married at First Sight,” our couples Shawniece Jackson, Jephte Pierre, Molly Duff, Jonathan Francetic, Jaclyn Schwartzberg, and Ryan Buckley meet after the show’s sixth season. Together with the experts, Dr. Jessica Griffin, Dr. Pepper Schwartz, and Pastor Calvin Robertson, they all had a chance to talk about their experiences in the show.

A relationship going strong

Ryan and Jaclyn are one of the couples who struggled a lot in “Married at First Sight.” But despite the ups and downs in their marriage, they manage to continue their relationship as husband and wife. Ryan said that seeing Jaclyn walk in the aisle is the best day of his life. He added that their marriage is a fairy tale and he explained that his wife is beautiful inside and out.

Jaclyn shared that she loved how Ryan is childlike, fun, and easygoing. She also thinks that Ryan’s attractive qualities include being a good, funny, and sweet person and that Ryan has a lot of charisma and is charming too.

The good thing about Jaclyn and Ryan’s relationship is that their families clicked right away; meaning their families will always be there for them and will support them in whatever step they would take in their marriage.

Like Shawniece and Jephte, Jaclyn and Ryan are doing their best to make their marriage work after “Married at First Sight.” Both of them have learned to face all the challenges in life and not to walk away from it. Ryan admitted that marriage is a working relationship and he and Jaclyn must overcome problems together.

A Supportive Couple

Last week, Shawniece announced that she and Jephte are expecting their first child. Although Jephte was very surprised and was a little bit taken aback, he promised to take care of Shawniece.

When Dr. Griffin asked Jephte about his relationship with his mother, he said that she is a fantastic person and Shawniece immediately agreed. Jephte’s mom gave Shawniece a white belt as a blessing during their wedding, and this made Shawniece feel like Jephte’s family immediately accepted her. Shawniece said Jephte’s mom treats her like a real daughter since all Jephte’s siblings are all boys.

When the experts opened up about communication, they asked Shawniece and Jephte about their communication breakdown experience during their second honeymoon in a corn maze at Danville, Vermont. Jephte emphasized that Shawniece fills what is lacking in his life and this is probably the main reason why they were able to fix and solve all their problems.

Shawniece shared that the best part of being married to Jephte is that he helps her in overcoming stress in life. Jephte told Shawnice that she is a sweet and caring wife and a good person too. Jephte added that his heart is opening up for Shawniece and he is trying to make room for her too.

Friends, not strangers

Jonathan and Molly surprised everyone during the “Married at First Sight” Decision Day when they announced that they would get a divorce. After one week, the two got the chance to talk about their decisions. Jonathan thinks that the way they started communicating was off and it was a bumpy road to recover and they just never did recover from all the issues they had been facing.

Molly, however, pointed out that if Jonathan told her that he wanted to keep trying, then it would have been hard for her not to keep trying too. Molly then directly asked Jonathan if he would have stayed married if she said she wanted to keep trying on Decision Day. Sadly, Jonathan answered her by saying that his mind was already made up and things were really over between them.

Above all, both Jonathan and Molly think that they have many things in common. Unfortunately, they were not able to use these similarities in nurturing their marriage and relationship, as a couple and as a person.
