In the eleventh episode of “Married at First Sight” Season 6, titled “Planning for the Future,” our couples continue to encounter problems in their marriage. But the good thing about it is that they are trying their best to understand each other and to make their relationships work. To do this, they need to listen to the advice of the counselors and apply it to their marriage.
Shawniece and Jephte reconcile
During last week’s episode, Jephte refused to let Shawniece check his phone. The scene made Shawniece upset, and she never bothered chasing him even when Jephte decided to leave their room. But just like their past fights, they reconciled immediately.
It seems that Jephte won’t let a day pass without them being okay again. So after talking to his friend, Antonio, Jephte gave Shawniecce two roses, hoping they could resolve their issues. And they did!
After making up, they talked about their 5-year plan as husband and wife, and it looks like they are on the same page. They almost have the same ideas when it comes to travel, career, and kids. Jephte said he couldn’t wait to be a father one day and he sees that happening with Shawniece.
Molly’s realization hit her hard
Physical intimacy has always been a problem between Molly and Jonathan. Molly once said that she’s not ready yet, but her husband couldn’t just wait for them to have sex. How could Jonathan not be frustrated if his wife is always giving him mixed signals? Molly said that Jonathan is her ideal spouse, but it seems that she’s not making any move to assure Jonathan that there’s nothing to worry about and sex will happen at the right time. One can say that there’s no improvement in their marriage until now.
Tonight’s episode also saw Molly finally admitting that she needs to be more affectionate and intimate with her husband. When Molly, Jonathan, and Pastor Cal sit down together, Pastor Cal asked Molly if she genuinely believes that chemistry between a couple can happen. Molly answered by saying that physical attraction is something that can grow. She also added that she never directly told anyone that their marriage would not work because Molly believes that it can. Pastor Cal, however, advised Molly to make an effort without trying to take her ability away.
The conversation helped Molly realize that she hasn’t been trying hard for intimacy. Molly needs to keep working harder to show Jonathan the affection and to maximize the possible physical feelings that might come. Molly also stressed that if she could get the physical aspect to catch up with where she and Jonathan are at emotionally, Molly thinks that it would be a massive relief because what a shame if they can’t make their marriage work. To show her commitment, Molly took Jonathan out on a simple date.
Ryan leaves sick wife to drink with his friends
During the past episodes of “Married at First Sight,” Jaclyn always complained about the time that Ryan allots for her. It even came to a point where Jaclyn doubted their relationship.
Tonight’s episode showed Ryan leaving Jaclyn again to drink with his friends. Jaclyn said that Ryan is apparently not changing his attitudes. He didn’t think of taking care of her even if she’s sick.
Ryan and Jaclyn decided to talk to settle their issues. Jaclyn poured herself out, saying that Ryan left her despite the fact that she’s sick. Ryan explained that he went out drinking with his friends because he wanted to unload everything to them. Ryan also confessed that he’s worried Jaclyn will travel, leaving him behind. In the end, Ryan apologized, and then they’re okay again–at least for now.
Pastor Cal talks with the boys
Pastor Cal and Jephte, Ryan, and Jonathan meet to discuss the current status of their marriages. Pastor Cal said that marriage goals are something that couples should be looking forward.
And speaking of goals, Ryan got the chance to ask a question, “what if one of the things included in your 5-year goal freaks the hell out of you?”
Jephte and Jonathan were surprised at his question, but it turned out that Ryan is talking about his wife’s plan of traveling around the world. He said that he’s not okay with it because Jaclyn might leave Ryan with their kids. Pastor Cal told Ryan not to worry and that they should not argue about something that can happen five years from now. Pastor Cal also added that what Ryan is doing is a form of self-sabotage since Jaclyn was just sharing her plans with him. They ended the lengthy discussion with a toast.
“Married at First Sight” continues next Tuesday, March 27th, at 9/8c on the Lifetime channel.
