‘Married at First Sight’ Season 6, Episode 10 Recap: Trust and Communication [SPOILERS]

Tuesday night’s “Married at First Sight” episode proved that communication is an essential factor for a successful marriage. With less than a month to go, Shawniece Jackson and Jephte Pierre, Molly Duff and Jonathan Francetic, and Jaclyn Schwartzberg and Ryan Buckley have to decide if they want to stay married or get a divorce.

Jaclyn and Ryan settle their issues

Last week, Jaclyn got mad at her husband Ryan for staying up too late. She had the chance to talk to Molly, and she said that she is worried Ryan wouldn’t have enough time for her. Ryan is always hanging out with his friends every night, and Molly was left sleeping alone in their bed.
Fortunately, Ryan got the chance to explain his side. He said that he is on a “tight leash” and wasn’t used to not going out with his friends. Ryan added that their fight was a total breakdown in communication, and if they don’t learn how to communicate better, he doesn’t see their relationship working out.

Ryan talked to his friend Jordan about his relationship with Molly. He said that he joined “Married at First Sight” to find the person he can be with forever, but their situation seems to break that hope he had. Ryan added that more than anything else, he wanted their marriage to work. Jordan advised him just to keep communicating with his wife and not to rush any decision he would make.
After last week, Jaclyn admitted that she’s getting more doubtful about their marriage. So Jaclyn decided to talk to her dad, Samuel, for advice. She said that she didn’t expect their relationship to be that hard and that she wanted to get into a consistent ground. Jaclyn shared that she just wanted Ryan to make time for her and include her as one of his main priorities.
On day 33, Ryan and Jaclyn decided to do something new. They went to an art class where they drew a nude male model. Jaclyn said that their quality time together meant something to her and she was very proud of Ryan for trying despite the awkwardness he felt.
On day 34, Ryan and Jaclyn cooked their first meal together in their apartment. Before the episode ended, the couple both did their best to make their marriage work by talking to each other.
It looks like Jordan’s advice was effective when Ryan and Jaclyn decided to talk to solve their problems. It turned out to be a great decision since they were able to explain each side and apologize for whatever wrongs they think they might have done. Ryan said that he wanted to change their marriage, but at the same time, he also wanted to be his self.

The happy couple

The experts left a bowl for Shawniece and Jephte. It contained questions to help them know each other more. The first question, “what pet name would you give me and why?” was from Jephte. Shawniece answered that she would call him “Papa Bear” because she is her daddy, followed with a hilarious laugh. The Q&A session went on perfectly, and it seems that both of them enjoyed the simple activity.
Jephte’s and Shawniece then went on a double date with Jepthe’s friends, Antonio and Adrianna. They enjoyed their time together and took the chance to talk about the progress of their relationship and the importance of communication in marriage. Shawniece said that it is a key and to everything. If you don’t say anything and just rely on feelings, the union won’t go further.

Dr. Griffin talks to the girls

Meanwhile, the three girls, Shawniece, Molly, and Jaclyn, met with Dr. Jessica Griffin to discuss the progress of their marriage and to assess their relationships. Dr. Griffin asked them to grade how happy they are with their husbands on the scale of 0-10, 10 being the happiest wife and 0 if they think they were miserable and wanted to be out of their marriage.
Molly gave a score of 7 and said that she would want Jonathan to feel less frustrated and pressured about physical intimacy. Shawniece, on the other hand, gave a rating of 7.9. She said that her husband needs to trust her more for complete happiness in their relationship. She added that Jephte should never forget that she always has her husband’s back.
Jaclyn selected a score of 8 because she felt like they uncovered a lot these past few weeks. But Jaclyn added that she would want Ryan to spend more time with her. Despite their differences in time and schedule, Jaclyn said that they’re trying to settle everything and just focus on the positive sides of their marriage. After sharing the scores they have picked, Dr. Griffin advised them to take care of themselves and continue doing the things they love to do.
Dr. Griffin also said that one of the hardest things about relationships is understanding that it’s not going to be pleasant all the time.

A date after an argument

Jonathan and Molly are much better now compared to how they were during the past “Married at First Sight” episodes. The couple is trying their best to take care of their relationship. During their short talk in their apartment, they opened up about some things that they don’t know about each other. Molly said that she realized the importance of communication and patience to a partner.
After their short meeting with Dr. Griffin, Molly went home and shared all the information they discussed with Jonathan. During their talk, however, things became heated up after Jonathan said that Molly is always putting herself first in their relationship. Jonathan added that he is doing his best for their relationship to work but Molly was a little more disconnected. Another thing that made the situation more complicated was when Jonathan began speaking about sex again.

Molly then began questioning if they are still on the same page. She also said that marriage is forever–if they can’t communicate with each other well, they’re doomed. But despite their argument, Molly and Jonathan still went on a date in a firearms school. Molly noticed that Jonathan is good at shooting his target. She also saw that he has a sexy back, so could this mean that she is slowly falling for his husband again?

Spouses exchange phones

The couples were required to exchange phones for one hour. The activity aims to test the trust the couples have towards each other. Jonathan and Molly agreed that they don’t need to search through each other’s phone. Ryan and Molly did the same too but decided to exchange phones.
Jephte, however, didn’t let Shawniece look through his phone. His decision ends up with an argument. Jephte went out of the room, and Shawniece slept alone. Shawniece said that she’s afraid Jonathan will never be open about their relationship.
“Married at First Sight” continues Tuesday, March 20th at 9/8c on the Lifetime channel.
