Margot Robbie Shares Official Mouthful Title for 'Birds of Prey' Movie

If there’s one thing that surrounds DC’s Birds of Prey movie, it’s the friendly mystery and seemingly fun vibe it gives off. Production for the film hasn’t started yet, but the core cast members have been announced. That said, most fans seem to liken it to the vibe of Suicide Squad (though we’re hoping it lives up to something more), given the role of Harley Quinn as the group’s “leader” and the movie’s lead star.

One thing we didn’t know about, until now, is that Birds of Prey might just be a working title—at least, that’s what Robbie’s Instagram post seems to hint at.

The actress shared a photo of the film’s screenplay, and on it, she scribbled a few Harley Quinn touches, including a possible full title for the movie. Apparently, it’s now titled Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn. That’s a mouthful, but one can’t help but wonder if this is expert-level trolling from Robbie, or if it is the real deal.

But according to The Hollywood Reporterthe Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn is indeed the official title for Birds of Prey. Harley Quinn’s 2016 comic book storyline did involve some sort of an emancipation for the character as she broke up with the Joker. After years of toxicity and going through an abusive relationship with the Joker, Harley finally called it quits and left him for good.

Given that Emancipation is Birds of Prey’s extended title, we can assume that Joker is out of the picture (maybe because of Suicide Squad’s underperformance?) and Harley is her own boss now. Whatever the narrative might be, we’ll surely see Harley, Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell), Cassandra Cain (Ella Jay Basco), and Detective Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez) duke it out with the film’s villain, Ewan McGregor’s Black Mask.

Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn is currently slated for a February 7, 2020 release date.
