Margot Robbie Joins Nicole Kidman And Charlize Theron In Fox News Scandal Movie

The next A-list actress in talks to join the yet untitled Fox News scandal movie ensemble is the I, Tonya Oscar award winner Margot Robbie. She will be starring with Nicole Kidman and Charlize Theron in the film dramatizing the downfall of Fox News’ previous chairman Roger Ailes.

According to The Wrap, Kidman will be playing former Fox News anchor Gretchen Carlson. And Theron will be playing the role of Megyn Kelly. Margot Robbie’s character is yet unnamed. However, her position will be that of an associate producer.

Robbie recently starred in Goodbye Christopher Robin and I, Tonya. Aside from this film, she will also be appearing in Mary Queen of Scots and Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.

The Annapurna film features a group of women who took on the toxic male culture of Fox News in the midst of bringing down the network CEO Roger Ailes. Carlson caused quite a stir in 2016 after filing a sexual harassment case against Ailes. According to Vulture, the ex-host said that Ailes fired her because she refused his advances. Carlson’s move resulted in multiple women coming forward with similar allegations. Ailes denied the claims but, he was forced to resign in 2016.

Before his death in 2017, Ailes presided over the network for 20 years. He was named the founding CEO of Fox News in 1996. He was a prominent figure both in the media and American politics. Ailes also launched the careers of Kelly, Carlson, and Sean Hannity, the very same women who took him down.

According to The Hollywood Reporter’s report, the project is an ensemble pic. Aside from Ailes, other major players in his 20-year reign will be included. Characters likely to appear are former anchor Greta Van Susteren and fired host Bill O’Reilly.

Margot Robbie will be working with Game Change director Jay Roach. The Big Shot writer Charles Randolph will be in charge of the script. And producers include one of the film’s stars Theron with A.J. Dix, Megan Ellison, Beth Kono, Margaret Riley, Roach, and Randolph.
