‘Manifest’ continues the mystery and mayhem with an emotional twist. A little love and desire in the heart, the most painful emotion, may create a devastating environment, which this episode masterfully does.
Michaela interrogates Jace, one of the guys behind the meth. He keeps on looking at her with his dagger eyes. Then he says he doesn’t forget things. Jared also interrogates the guy who pretends to be a bus driver. Drea examines the last guy.
They refuse to speak. Jace appears aware of Michaela’s callings, taunting her she should have let him go.
While Drea asks the last meth suspect, Michaela and Jared talk about her concern that the accusations will be dropped if they don’t get one to speak forward. Jared recommends they try again early the next day, but Michaela claims she won’t be able to. She announces her engagement to Zeke. Despite his astonishment, Jared accepts the news and promises he’ll be there to back her choice.
Michaela visits his brother. They watch their video when they were young. Young Michaela wore her mother’s wedding dress, so Ben suggests she wear it on her wedding day. “Dad got rid of all her stuff when she died,” Michaela tells Ben.
Zeke enters Michaela’s apartment and removes his shirt while looking in the mirror. Zeke‘s chest is almost covered in ice. He is now only two days away from his death.
Dr. Saanvi Bahl approaches her supervisor to reclaim her position, but he informs her he has no say in the issue. Someone in the government had to pull some strings to remove her from her post.
Back to Michaela, she is writing her vows for Zeke. Then she has a flashback of his mom before they took a flight and remembers the bible verse, “All things work together for good.”
Zeke tells Michaela she has made him so happy that marrying him means the world to him. Michaela recalls her mother telling her everyone deserves to be happy, including those who have committed errors.
Olive and TJ spend time together at the Stone house when Olive thinks he’s acting strangely. She attempts to speak with him, but he tells her to discuss it later.
Zeke and Michaela arrive at the Stone residence in preparation for the wedding. Cal, furious about Zeke’s Death Date, approaches Zeke. Zeke distracts Cal by telling him he’s his best man and needs to organize a bachelor party: eating junk food and playing Monopoly.
Downstairs, Michaela goes with Grace to see what Ben is doing. Ben‘s doing the construction part of the wedding plan when he sees a calling for Flight 828 — it explodes again.
He informs Michaela and Grace about it, but he is unsure what it signifies. Michaela gets the idea it’s related to Zeke’s Death Date. Ben needs to investigate, so he decides to travel to where he witnessed the plane explode to see if it leads to a clue.
Michaela subsequently watches on television that the meth lab home exploded. She feels the calling wanted her to abandon Jace and his companions so they would perish in the explosion. She unintentionally lengthened their lives by not listening.
Jace and the other two guys are being loaded into a bus to be sent to jail when Jared attempts to interrogate Jace once more. Jace threatens Michaela as he boards the bus.
Ben goes to the place where he sees the calling. He sees one of the passengers, Ward. Ward (Elliot Villar) is guilty of what happened to Flight 828. He says he is the one who approved the flight to Jamaica and rushed the inspection. He also has a vision of the plane explosion.
Zeke’s mom goes to the Stone residence to give Michaela a gift she can wear. She talks to Zeke about not attending the wedding day because she doesn’t like to be in the same room with his father.
Zeke begs her to remain for the wedding. He ultimately admits he’s dying. Priscilla becomes unhappy, but he assures her he is grateful to be marrying the love of his life and wishes for one wonderful day.
Saanvi leaves Vance a voice message. She wants to have a ticket to Havana — it‘s an emergency.
One of the detainees fakes a seizure on the way to jail, allowing Jace and his partners to attack and knock the guards out. They manage to flee.
Saanvi approaches Ben for assistance, alerting him that she has been sacked. She requests assistance in contacting Vance. He gives her Vance’s wife’s address, thinking she’ll know how to get her husband.
Ben and Ward pore through their notes and statistics. Then Ward understands he isn’t to blame for what happened to Flight 828. Ben is on his way back home for Michaela’s wedding, feeling he has helped Ward when he hears the plane blow up again.
Saanvi approaches Vance’s wife and requests she contact her husband. But the wife insists her husband is deceased and tells Saanvi to leave her alone.
Back at the Stone house, Zeke puts on his tuxedo and begs his father to look after his mother while he is out.
Meanwhile, Michaela has difficulty getting dressed and confides in her father about her mother. He confirms Michaela’s mother would have been delighted to see her marry.
TJ chooses the wrong time to tell Olive he’s heading to Egypt. He was awarded a scholarship to study there. Olive, understandably, becomes agitated and walks away.
When Jared goes in, he notices Zeke. They exchange handshakes and bury the hatchet. Jared wholeheartedly supports Zeke and Michaela’s marriage.
Grace checks on Michaela and notices she is pacing. Michaela cannot go through with it and wishes to cancel the wedding. Ben walks in carrying their mother’s wedding veil. He explains a calling helped him find it.
Michaela smiles as she puts on her wedding gown and her mother’s veil, walking downstairs to marry Zeke.
Jared is overcome by the sight of Michaela in her bridal gown and departs. Zeke and Michaela exchange vows and officially become husband and wife.
Outside, Jared drives away, not noticing Jace and his two companions seated in a dark vehicle just down the street.
Everyone is having a good time at the reception: dancing, taking photographs and cutting the wedding cake. Michaela subsequently tells Ben she saw their mother seated on a chair during the exchange of vows. She interprets it as having the ability to forge a path.
TJ informs Olive one of the reasons he wants to go to Egypt is to find out more about the Death Date and devise a means for him and everyone else on Flight 828 to beat it. He asks her along, but she rejects. She wants to spend as much time with Ben and Cal and help raise her newborn sister.
Saanvi tells Michaela she believes she has let Zeke and the other passengers on Flight 828 down. Saanvi then receives a text message from the travel agency informing her that her tickets are ready. She deciphers the hidden message and departs.
Zeke and Michaela say their goodbyes and drive away.
When Saanvi gets to the abandoned office, Vance apologizes for not responding sooner. He reveals the Major has severed all ties to Saanvi’s study and, as expected, she has sacked her. With Saanvi’s analysis, she feels she has found a breakthrough. He offers to assist Saanvi in disappearing, but Saanvi is adamant about pursuing the Major.
Cal is outside the house playing when Ben gets the call about the plane exploding again. Three big black shadows appear behind Cal.
Michaela and Zeke are traveling when she receives a phone call. She hears Cal crying for help. Jace answers the phone and threatens Michaela: if she doesn’t return their stash, they’ll bury her nephew.
Our Thoughts
Although most of this episode of Manifest was spent enjoying the pleasure and anguish of Michaela and Zeke’s wedding, it also reminded viewers of how frequently human error is at work when it comes to correctly interpreting the callings. Both Ben and Michaela believe they have figured out the meaning of “Let him go!” and the vision of the plane exploding. But both remain unsolved. When combined with Saanvi’s drive to pursue the Major, it looks that our favorite villain will reappear at a vital juncture.
Will the Stone family ever comprehend the callings’ importance and who is behind them? With only one episode remaining, there are still plenty of secrets to unearth. Was Michaela’s decision to apprehend the three criminals the correct one? The family may pay a terrible price for defying the callings, and only time will reveal what that price will be.
