Lucifer Season 5 Episode 8 Recap – Spoiler Alert

[00:00:30] Lucifer falls to the floor as Dan shoots him. Chloe rushes to his side, fearing for the worst. Suddenly, Lucifer gasps for air and gets up as if nothing happened. He didn’t bleed from the gunshot, nor was he affected. Chloe confronts Dan for shooting Lucifer. He tells Chloe that Lucifer is the devil. He saw Lucifer with Amenadiel and Charlie the other night. Chloe tries to convince Dan that Lucifer is a good person. Lucifer takes the pistol and shoots himself to double-check that he isn’t affected despite Chloe being near him. Dan leaves the penthouse looking like a deranged lunatic. Chloe is worried about Trixie’s safety, so she wants to pick her up before Dan. Chloe is confused by what just happened. First is the power swap, and now Lucifer is invulnerable despite being near her.

[00:03:00] Lucifer doesn’t care about being invulnerable again. He’s just glad he didn’t die. Chloe just wants to make sense of things. She leaves the penthouse while Lucifer wonders what really happened. Ella is in a hurry to leave Pete’s place for work. Pete gives her a key to his apartment before she leaves. He worries things are going too fast, so he asks Ella, but she accepts the key. At the precinct, she tells Chloe things are going too fast. Ella is worried because things are going too well for them. Chloe just tells Ella she should embrace the changes, and if things are going well, then it’s good for her. Lucifer is planting a live snake in Dan’s office drawer. He wants revenge for Dan shooting him, but Chloe knows it isn’t a good idea.

[00:06:00] Lucifer takes the snake back and agrees with Chloe that it wasn’t a good idea. Lucifer wants to think big, but Chloe disagrees by telling him that Dan is very fragile at the moment. She doesn’t want Lucifer setting Dan off. Lucifer doesn’t care about Dan or his emotions and current state of mind. With his newfound invulnerability around Chloe, he wants to take things to the next level. Lucifer volunteers as a human shield for her, especially in their cases. Chloe knows something is off with the previous case, so she wants to explore it further. They go to Les to speak with him. Chloe asks him a few questions about his first three victims but none of his answers match. She knows Les didn’t kill the first three victims and goes to investigate on her own.

[00:10:00] Chloe finds out there is another serial killer on the loose. She calls Lucifer to meet her at the lead, but someone sneaks into her house and gags her before she can finish the call. Lucifer is too busy planning the perfect revenge plot against Dan. He finishes his plan and sees a voicemail sent by Chloe. He listens to the recording and hears she’s struggling against someone. Lucifer flies to her apartment and finds Chloe’s phone and laptop destroyed, along with the case files on the floor. He can’t find Chloe anywhere. Lucifer blames himself for being distracted by Dan. Ella also blames him, but he needs Ella to keep it together for Chloe.

[00:13:00] Ella finds a notepad containing notes from Chloe. She wrote down a name: Scotty Thomas. Lucifer remembers part of Chloe’s voicemail that she’s supposed to meet him at an arts center. Lucifer goes to the location with Ella. They enter the room which looks like a serial killer’s lair. Someone comes out of the bathroom, so Lucifer pulls him to the side for questioning. The guy tells Lucifer he’s supposed to meet Detective Decker, but she doesn’t show up. He printed transcripts of his messages with Les from a website named KillShare. Ella reads the transcripts where Les kept on mentioning a user named LilyMan85. She checks the user on KillShare. His messages are firsthand accounts of how the first three victims died. Ella knows LilyMan85 is the serial killer they’re looking for.

[00:18:00] Amenadiel takes Charlie to the hospital. Lucifer keeps calling Maze for help, but she doesn’t want to talk to him. Amenadiel tells Maze she should first tell Lucifer why she’s angry instead of sulking on her own. Maze picks up the call and learns about Chloe. Lucifer and Ella found the killer’s address. She calls for backup as Lucifer breaks the door down. A putrid smell fills the air. They slowly approach the kitchen where the smell comes from. They see a dead woman tied up to a chair holding flowers. Lucifer and Ella think it’s Chloe. They rotate the chair to check if it’s Chloe. Ella thanks God it isn’t Chloe. Ella bumps into Pete as she heads back to the precinct. Pete tells Ella she can use his research on the Whisper Killer to help with the current situation.

[00:24:00] Lucifer asks Amenadiel to help find Chloe, but he can’t slow down time anymore. Amenadiel tells Lucifer to just do some detective work to find Chloe. Lucifer does as told and finds a lead. Lucifer does the detective work while Maze tortures Les for information. Maze tells Lucifer the real serial killer hunts for his victims inside restaurants. Lucifer tells Ella to run a cross-check for the restaurants the victims went to before their death and find one with security cameras. Maze sees Lilith’s ring on Lucifer’s hand and holds back on any urges to hurt him. Ella returns with the address of one restaurant. Lucifer takes Maze to the restaurant to check the security footage. Ella tells Lucifer she will get Pete’s research files on the Whisper Killer.

[00:28:00] Lucifer and Maze speak to the security personnel, but he refuses to show them the security footage. Lucifer tries to use his powers, and it works. They find one of the victims and the killer who is stalking her. Lucifer recognizes the killer from the security footage. Ella goes to Pete’s place to get the files. As she’s about to leave, Ella finds an air vent hidden behind a wall socket. She wonders why there is an air vent there. She discovers a secret room. Ella enters the room to find a small garden full of lilies. Ella realizes Pete is the real serial killer. She tries to cover her tracks, but Pete arrives. Pete sees Ella has discovered the air vent and tries to kill her. Ella manages to knock Pete out and escape.

[00:34:00] Ella questions Pete why he kills innocent women. Pete has issues with his mother, turning him into a serial killer. He used Ella to get ahead of the investigation, but their relationship evolved. Pete wanted to kill Ella eventually, but he thought he would fall in love with her, but he couldn’t. All Pete wants to do is to kill talkative women which reminds him of his childhood. Ella wants to know where Chloe is, but Pete really doesn’t know. Pete didn’t kidnap Chloe. Ella tells Pete he will burn in hell and leaves. Lucifer is running out of time. He doesn’t know who would want to hurt Chloe. He spends all the time looking for Pete instead of Chloe. Maze tells Lucifer that maybe someone has taken Chloe to hurt him. Lucifer realizes who took Chloe.

[00:38:00] Chloe does her best to escape, trying to pry the bars of her cell open. Michael comes up to her cell to greet her. He tells Chloe that capturing her is part of a bigger plan. Michael tells Chloe that Lucifer’s newfound invulnerability means something greater. Michael is trying to get inside Chloe’s head, and it’s working. Lucifer hasn’t told Chloe that he loved her. Michael points out that angels self-actualize, meaning Lucifer chooses to be vulnerable around her. Lucifer is no longer vulnerable around Chloe, and deep down, she knows Lucifer chooses not to be vulnerable anymore. Michael leaves Chloe to run an errand while she does her best not to fall apart.

[00:42:00] Maze finds Dan drunk in a bar, so she brings him to Lucifer. Dan doesn’t want to talk to Lucifer, but he doesn’t have any choice. Lucifer asks Dan why he returned to the house the night he saw his real face. Dan tells Lucifer he called him. Lucifer realizes Michael called Dan. He tells Dan about Michael who already knows him. Lucifer knows Michael told Dan to shoot him. He updates Dan about Chloe and tells him Michael kidnapped her. Dan wants to help, so he tells Lucifer where he last saw Michael. But Dan can’t provide the exact location because he passed out while Michael flew him to the cave. He tells Lucifer the place looked like an abandoned fake cave.

[00:44:30] Chloe finally arms herself using one of the steel bars inside the cave. She hides and waits for Michael to return. Michael enters the cave, and she hits him with the bar on his head. Chloe runs. She runs into Maze and Dan. Lucifer tells Chloe she has a mighty swing in her arsenal. It was Lucifer she hit on the head and not Michael. She’s so glad to see them. She apologizes to Lucifer for hitting him on the head. Linda and Amenadiel are relieved Charlie is okay. Michael overhears Charlie has a common cold. Amenadiel isn’t worried, but Michael is about to tell him something about Charlie. After speaking with Amenadiel, Michael returns to the zoo where Maze is waiting.

[00:47:00] Maze wants to kill Michael, but he talks his way out. Back at the precinct, Chloe thanks everyone who helped to find her. Linda and Amenadiel arrive at the precinct. He wants to talk with Lucifer about Charlie, but Lucifer is busy waiting for Chloe. Lucifer invites her to talk somewhere private. Lucifer updates Chloe about what happened. Chloe worries Lucifer doesn’t love her back. Lucifer knows Michael got inside Chloe’s head. She tells Lucifer that Michael used her fear against her, and she was starting to believe Michael. Lucifer tells Chloe not to give in to Michael. He is going to tell Chloe he loves her, but time stops.

[00:53:00] Lucifer knows Amenadiel stopped time, so he looks for him. Michael also got to Amenadiel’s head. He unconsciously stops time due to his fear of Charlie being mortal. Lucifer tries to talk Ameandiel out of it, but he can’t. Michael appears with Maze. She is helping Michael because he promised him a soul. Lucifer tells Maze it’s impossible because she’s a demon. A fight ensues between them. Maze does her best, but she is no match for Lucifer. Amenadiel holds Michael back, so he won’t get to Lucifer. Lucifer disables Maze temporarily, so he helps Amenadiel. God appears to stop the fight before Lucifer and Chloe finish Michael.
