Lucifer Season 4 Episode 8 Recap – Super Bad Boyfriend

[00:00:30] Lucifer kidnaps Dr. Arn, a plastic surgeon. He wants him to fix his wing problem, but Dr. Arn needs to see the problem first. Lucifer can’t show him his wings and wants another way. Dr. Arn suggests Botox, but Lucifer refuses. Amenadiel arrives and sees Lucifer manhandling Dr. Arn. Lucifer had no choice but to release Dr. Arn. Amenadiel asks Lucifer to be the godfather of his baby. Lucifer refuses to be Charlie’s godfather. He tells Amenadiel it isn’t a good idea.

[00:03:00] Dan arrives at the latest crime scene. It‘s an awkward moment with Ella as they both recall what happened between them. They decide it‘s best if they don’t continue their relationship. Chloe arrives with Lucifer. She keeps thinking about the prophecy. Ella updates them on the case. Someone ambushed Sandra Baez at the school locker. The school janitor found her body after her usual morning jogging schedule. Chloe speaks with Lucifer, and she tells him the prophecy. Lucifer tells Chloe he only needs to break up with Eve to stop the prophecy from happening.

[00:07:00] Lucifer goes home to break up with Eve. He tells her about the prophecy, but she doesn’t care. Eve focuses on the part where Lucifer considers her as his first love. Lucifer tells Eve they should break up, but she refuses. Eve tells Lucifer she won’t give up on him no matter what happens. Eve squeals in excitement, knowing that Lucifer had confessed his love for her, or so she thought. Chloe and Lucifer speak to Lexy who‘s part of Sandra’s school club. She doesn’t know who might want to hurt Sandra, but she gives them the name of another student, Caleb Mayfield. They speak to Caleb, but he doesn’t give many details either. He redirects them to Nate Benedict. Chloe and Lucifer hit the jackpot with Nate.

[00:11:00] Nate is mad at Sandra because she is having an affair with his father. Nate is Lexy’s boyfriend. He tells Chloe he was at her house when Sandra was killed. He adds that his parents are separated, but they could’ve fixed their relationship if it wasn’t for Sandra. Lucifer asks Nate what happened to his parents and how they got separated. He tells Lucifer his parents went on a downward spiral after therapy. Meanwhile, Amenadiel wants to know more about becoming a good parent, so he asks the customers at Lux. He doesn’t get any good answers. Amenadiel gets an opportunity as Caleb enters the club looking for Lucifer. He wants to ask a favor from Lucifer. Amenadiel tells Caleb that Lucifer isn’t around. Amenadiel tells Caleb that Lucifer is his brother and offers to help.

[00:13:00] Caleb got into trouble with a drug dealer named Tahir. He is being forced to sell drugs at his school even if he doesn’t want to anymore. Caleb was hoping Lucifer would buy the drugs off him. Amenadiel tells Caleb that selling the drugs won’t solve his problem. Tahir will just force him to sell more. Amenadiel sees the opportunity to help Caleb. Back at the precinct, Ella speaks to Chloe about Sandra’s autopsy report. She wants to get Dan before Ella discusses the results, but she stops her. Ella tells Chloe that Sandra was hit on the head with golf clubs. Chloe goes on her way as Ella receives a call about the Jacob Tiernan case. Lucifer goes back to Linda, hoping to end his relationship with Eve. He brings Eve along. She‘s ecstatic to meet Linda.

[00:17:00] Lucifer’s plan backfires as Eve and Linda get along. For some unknown reason, Eve understands psychology and the sciences behind emotion and whatnot. Eve finishes Linda’s sentences, which is just the nail on Lucifer’s plan. Amenadiel goes with Caleb to confront Tahir. Amenadiel hands the drugs back to Tahir, but he isn’t letting them go easily. He asks Amenadiel for collateral. Amenadiel can’t give Caleb to Tahir, so he has no choice but to surrender his necklace. Amenadiel swears he will return for his necklace. Tahir threatens Caleb that if anything backfires on him, he will hunt him down.

[00:20:00] Chloe and Lucifer speak with Nate’s father. Lucifer accuses him of killing Sandra, but he denies the allegation. He already broke up with Sandra a few weeks back. In fact, he was already getting back together with his ex-wife, Emma. They couldn’t tell Nate they were getting back together because he was still shaken by their breakup. Lucifer wants to know the reason he broke up with his wife. Apparently, he was the cliché bad husband. He was having an affair and left Emma without any other choice but to leave. At his penthouse, Lucifer starts his plan to break up with Eve. Instead of pushing through on dinner plans with Eve, he hosts a fantasy football club. Lucifer becomes the cliché bad boyfriend, but it doesn’t take long for Eve to react.

[00:23:00] Instead of getting mad with Lucifer, Eve joins him with whatever he does. Eventually, his plan backfires once again. Lucifer gets a call from Chloe with an update on their case. Lucifer bids farewell to Eve. Somehow, Eve seems pissed at Lucifer. Meanwhile, Amenadiel and Caleb got ice cream as they walked down a street. Caleb explains he didn’t fit in with the rich, white crowd, so he found a home with Tahir and his gang. Caleb adds that if he knew Tahir was bad, he wouldn’t have joined them. A police car stops beside them. The cops tell Amenadiel that Caleb is wanted for murder. Amenadiel tries to defend Caleb, but the cops have something against black people. One of the cops slams Caleb to the ground while the other points his pistol at Amenadiel for no apparent reason.

[00:26:00] Dan arrives to stop the officer from shooting Amenadiel. They arrest Caleb and bring him to the precinct. Amenadiel argues with Dan about the evidence against Caleb. He thinks Dan has also made up his mind like the officers who arrested Caleb. Dan tells Amenadiel he will file a complaint against the officers, but he admits nothing will change even if he files a complaint. It‘s the first time Amenadiel encountered racism in his stay on Earth; he doesn’t like it. Ella wants to speak with Dan, so he leaves Amenadiel. Ella tells Dan about the call she received about the Tiernan case. It seems there‘s speculation that a cop told Jacob about Lucifer. Dan acts shocked, but he knows it‘s only a matter of time before someone discovers what he did.

[00:29:00] Amenadiel visits Caleb at the precinct holding cell. Caleb has already lost hope, but Amenadiel tells him not to give up. Caleb knows no one will believe him, especially with the evidence against him. Amenadiel tells Caleb to have faith in him. Caleb agrees as tears roll down his face. Back at Lux, Maze continues her conquest of finding her connection. But like Lucifer, her plans aren’t doing okay. Eve is looking for Lucifer when she sees Maze. Maze tells her about her failed dates; Eve offers to help. Maze is having difficulty opening up a conversation since she’s a demon. Eve explains that someone who wanted to date her would be open to her real self. Instead of letting Eve leave, she asks her to continue giving her advice.

[00:33:00] Chloe asks Lucifer how things are going with Eve. He tells him about his failed attempts to get Eve to break up with him. Chloe says his attempts will fail because he isn’t a bad boyfriend type of guy. Before Lucifer could respond, Amenadiel arrived to speak with Chloe. He tells Chloe to look into the case further because someone sets Caleb up. Chloe feels the same way. Amenadiel gives her a list of kids Caleb sold drugs to. None of the kids on his list matched the kids who had access to the golf club locker. Lucifer sees Lexy and Nate on the list. They are dating, so they could be working together. Chloe questions Lexy; she rats Nate out in a heartbeat. She goes out of the interrogation room to get tissues for Lexy.

[00:35:00] Chloe isn’t really getting tissues. Nate and his father are on the other side of the room. They heard Lexy’s statement, so his father wants Nate to come clean. Chloe enters the room. Nate tells them everything. Lexy forced Nate to go to Harvard with her. They took drugs to enhance their capabilities during exams but couldn’t keep up. Lexy wanted Nate to steal a copy of the exams so they could pass easily, but they got busted by Sandra. She threatened to go to the cops if Nate didn’t tell her the truth. Nate tells Lexy what happened, and she lost it. Lexy didn’t want to lose going to Harvard, so she killed Sandra using Caleb’s golf clubs. Chloe wants proof, so Nate gives them Lexy’s bloody clothes.

[00:36:30] Nate apologizes for his actions. He tells them Lexy wanted him to become somebody he’s not. Lucifer realizes how to stop the prophecy and breaks up with Eve. The police release Caleb from prison. He thanks Amenadiel for helping him out. Caleb also tells Amenadiel that he doesn’t have anything to worry about because he will become a great father. Maze and Eve are getting along. Dan is at Lux and notices that Maze is getting attached with Eve. Dan wants Maze to hurt him. Maze calls security to escort Dan out of Lux.

[00:40:00] Lucifer arrives at his penthouse looking for Eve. He tells Eve she deserves someone better. Eve wants to be with Lucifer, but he doesn’t like to return to his old self. Lucifer finally breaks up with Eve just before Chloe calls. Chloe is looking for Amenadiel because of Caleb. Someone shot Caleb and killed him. Amenadiel arrives at the crime scene and sees Caleb’s lifeless body. Chloe promises him she will catch the killer. Amenadiel knows who killed Caleb, so Lucifer offers to drive for him.

[00:43:50] Lucifer drives to Tahir’s place. Amenadiel beats Tahir to an inch of death. Lucifer keeps Tahir’s men at bay. Amenadiel stops and walks away. Amenadiel realizes that Earth is a bad place to raise his son. Lucifer returns to Lux. Chloe finds him by the bar. She asks if Amenadiel is doing okay. Amenadiel isn’t okay, and neither is he. He doesn’t want to be with Eve because she sees his old self, but he also doesn’t understand Chloe because she sees his good side. Lucifer leaves Lux to go back to Linda for more advice. Amenadiel goes to Caleb’s body and gives him his necklace.

[00:48:00] Lucifer finally has a breakthrough with Linda. He knows he has been lying to himself for millennia, and God has nothing to do with his hardships. Lucifer is terrified to admit that everything is his fault. Linda sees progress, but to Lucifer, it‘s admitting that something inside him is bad. He doesn’t know why he hates himself so much.
