'Lucifer' Season 3, Episode 13 ' 'Til Death Do Us Part' Recap: The Wolverine Rule [SPOILERS]

How do you kill an immortal? That’s what Lucifer (Tom Ellis) have to figure out because his father did quite a job on Detective Pierce aka Cain (Tom Welling). The man is as invincible as Welling’s role as Clark Kent in “Smallville.” He also regenerates like Wolverine, so killing him is almost impossible. But before Lucifer can figure out a way to kill Caine, he has to find out his weakness. Lucky for him, a new case arrives that will let him get to know Pierce a little more.
On Season 3, Episode 9 of “Lucifer,” an ecstasy cook-turned-chemistry teacher is found murdered in a cozy Los Angeles suburb. Lucifer and Pierce have to go undercover to find the killer. Meanwhile, Maze (Lesley-Ann Brandt) finds herself attracted to Charlotte (Tricia Helfer).
Lucifer tries to cut Pierce open
On the last episode of “Lucifer,” the devil teams up with Detective Pierce to find a way to kill him. Pierce wants his eternal misery to end while Lucifer just wants to screw with his father. Pierce is also Cain, the first son of Adam and the first ever murderer. If you’re familiar with the tale, Cain was banished by God after murdering his brother Abel. In “Lucifer,” however, Cain became immortal. Though Cain can’t die, he feels the pain of the attempt to kill him. Lucifer gave a few options such as using a chainsaw and a demonic blade, but Pierce was frustrated upon thinking that Lucifer knew how to kill him.
Almost hopeless, Lucifer decides the only way to know how to kill Pierce is finding his weakness. Pierce didn’t appreciate the idea. He didn’t consider himself a crier or someone who opens up, so Lucifer tries his best to present his argument until they were interrupted by a new case. A suburban woman named Sandra was killed due to her ties to a criminal group called the Korean Power. She was a chemist who cooked the best-selling drug. But Chloe (Lauren German) and Lucifer hit a dead end when the leader of the Korean Power said the last thing he wanted was his best cook dead. Chloe and Lucifer found another lead when they found out Sandra quit the Korean Power to sell her own drugs. They found a threatening letter in evidence and it looked like someone in her neighborhood didn’t enjoy her business.
Married to the Devil
In order for them to find the murderer, they have to go undercover and pose as new neighbors. But the residents already know Chloe is a cop so she can’t go undercover. The only choice left was Pierce—who was not happy pretending to be married to Lucifer. But the Devil is a little too enthusiastic about the cover. This was his chance to get to know Pierce a little better. Look for his vulnerability, find his weak spot and stab it. But Lucifer gets a little too caught up in the charade. During a dinner with their neighbors Anya and Brian, they got into a “marital spat” about tableware and cleaning dishes. But they were able to find out that some neighborhood nag was sending everyone threatening notes. They ranged from uncut grass to loud music. Upon knowing who their first suspect is, they now need to lure him.
Now, this is what the Devil does best—chaos. Lucifer becomes the worst neighbor imaginable, causing the neighborhood nag to pay a visit. Surprisingly, it was their dinner guest Brian. Chloe interrogates him about Sandra’s murder until he admits Sandra was his drug dealer. He never wanted her dead. So Pierce has to be married to the Devil again. The two stage a neighborhood party where they find out which neighbor matched the handwriting of the threatening note to Sandra. Pierce and Lucifer try to get everyone to sign the guestbook, but Brian didn’t let Anya sign it. We later find out that it was Anya who killed Sandra because she thought she was a mistress.
No ones wants to be lonely
Meanwhile, Maze suddenly becomes attracted to Charlotte—the person she hates the most. She finds Charlotte’s scent irresistible. It’s funny to see a different dynamic between the two. In previous seasons, they were always at each other’s throats, but this Charlotte isn’t who she used to be. She’s learning how to be a good person and trying to find a way to get her life normal. There are pieces of her old life that she can’t remember, but she prefers to move past it. This includes dating Dan (Kevin Alejandro), who is finally warming up to the idea of a new Charlotte. But Maze comes in interrupting what could’ve been a romantic night—and initiates a threesome. Like any straight man, Dan gets flustered by the idea while Charlotte was confused with the situation.
Later we find out the only reason Maze was attracted to Charlotte was her scent. She smelled like hell. It was something so familiar for Maze that it drove her crazy. But the last thing she wanted was to get back to her old life. Meanwhile, Lucifer figured out Pierce’s weakness. He doesn’t want to spend another eternity alone as he watches people he cared about die. So the two form a strange bond, and it’s interesting how their friendship will play out for the rest of the season.
“Lucifer” continues next Monday, February 5th, with “My Brother’s Keeper” at 8/7c on FOX.
