[00:00:50] Reese Getty woke up in a hospital bed. He asked the nurse what had happened because she welcomed him back to the land of the living. The nurse told him that he had had a brush up with death, but there was nothing to worry about. He asked where his wife was; however, the nurse told him that he hadn’t had any visitors in a while. Reese knew that things were going south with his wife, but since he had a second chance at life, he wanted to make things right. As soon as Reese got out of the hospital, he went to see his wife. He brought her a bouquet of flowers, but before he could open the door, he heard a man talking to his wife.
[00:01:30] Reese hid by a bush to see who the man was. Lucifer came out, thanked the lady for a wonderful time, and left. Reese no longer wanted to see his wife; he threw the bouquet and followed Lucifer instead. Reese sat inside Lux and just stared at Lucifer; he couldn’t believe that a womanizer like Lucifer was seeing his wife. He asked the waitress who Lucifer was, and she told him that he was the owner of the nightclub. As soon as Reese looked at the bar, Lucifer was gone. He looked around for him, and he was surprised to find that Lucifer was already sitting beside him. Lucifer thought Reese wanted to have sex with him, and he immediately declined because he didn’t find Reese attractive. Reese told Lucifer that he was at the bar because someone was sleeping with his wife.
[00:03:00] Lucifer had no idea that Reese was referring to him, so he suggested that Reese should do something about this womanizer. Reese wanted to punch Lucifer in the face; however, Lucifer suggested that punching the womanizer wasn’t enough, and Reese should destroy the man’s life. Reese liked the idea; Chloe arrived, and Lucifer introduced her to Reese. He couldn’t believe that Lucifer worked for the LAPD, so he did some research. The next morning, Reese asked to do a story about Lucifer and his shenanigans with the LAPD. His manager approved, so he went to visit Lucifer at the precinct. Reese didn’t waste any time and began gathering dirt on Lucifer; however, everyone at the precinct loved him. In fact, Lucifer had helped a lot of people in the precinct during tough times in their lives.
[00:06:00] The only person who hated Lucifer was Dan. Reese finally got the break he was looking for and interviewed Dan. He told Reese that someone had been stealing his pudding from the precinct fridge, and it had all started when Lucifer arrived. Reese thought that Dan was a dead end; however, Dan added that he also didn’t like how Lucifer spent so much time with Chloe. Reese wanted to keep things off the record as he continued to talk to Dan, but Chloe interrupted them. Chloe recognized Reese and he formally introduced himself. Chloe’s mood changed the moment Reese mentioned that he was from the L.A. Telegraph. Chloe knew that Reese just wanted to ruin her image by writing a story about her and Lucifer.
[00:07:00] Reese explained that his boss and Marcus were close, which meant that he could ride along with them in order to finish his story; however, Chloe wouldn’t allow it. At the crime scene, Reese confirmed with Lucifer that he had just shown up to crime scenes until he became a consultant for the LAPD. Chloe confirmed his statement and told him that Lucifer had helped them a lot. The victim was Poppy Parker, who owned an organic cosmetic line. She had syringes stuck in her neck like a necklace. She was also surrounded by breast implants. Lucifer picked the implants up and started juggling them, much to Chloe’s disbelief. He gave them an evaluation and told Reese that he was the devil. Chloe recognized the M.O. of their killer and decided to check other cases back at the precinct.
[00:09:30] Chloe showed them previous cases with the same M.O. She claimed that they were up against a serial killer. As Chloe looked over all of the cases, Lucifer stepped outside and spoke to one of the other officers. He handed him a wad of cash in exchange for a bag. Reese saw the transaction and immediately asked Chloe why Lucifer is working with her. Chloe told him that they have an unconventional partnership. Reese wanted to know what Lucifer got in exchange for working with her. Chloe told Reese that he needed to ask Lucifer that question in order to get the right answer. Reese decided to follow Lucifer to a warehouse, where he handed off the bag in exchange for another bag. Reese left a voicemail to his wife, asking to talk with her.
[00:11:20] Lucifer drove off, and Maze appeared to threaten Reese. She threw him around like a ragdoll and told Reese to stop following Lucifer. Reese tried to act tough, but Maze kicked him in the groin. Reese dropped to the ground, and Maze disappeared. He went back to his office and asked his co-worker to look into the address of the warehouse. His co-worker interrupted him because his wife was inside his office. Reese fixed his hair and jacket before walking into his office. He greeted her, who turned out to be none other than Linda. She asked Reese why his co-workers were referring to her as his wife. Reese told Linda that she was his wife; however, Linda told him that they were separated. It had been two years, and Linda had moved on. Linda was visiting Reese so that he could sign their divorce papers.
[00:13:00] Reese wanted to know if she wanted to go through with the divorce because she was seeing someone else. Linda denied this. She told Reese that he needed to move on because everything between them was over. Linda added that he was in denial and it was just a defense mechanism. Reese didn’t appreciate that Linda was analyzing him like one of her patients. Linda begged Reese to sign the papers. He asked Linda for 24 hours before he signed them. Reese told her that he was working on something big. Linda agreed and left with the divorce papers. Reese left his office and ask his co-worker about the address he had provided. The address was a known spot for trading illegal goods. Reese needed Lucifer’s bag to get ample evidence.
[00:15:00] Lucifer was back at Lux attending to his bar. Reese took the opportunity to sneak into his penthouse. He found the bag and heard a girl muffling in the other room. Reese went to check and saw her tied up to the bed. Reese tried to free the girl; however, Lucifer returned with a bottle of champagne in hand. He wanted to know what Reese was doing in his penthouse. Reese knew that Lucifer was up to something, and he wanted to expose him as well as save the girl from bondage. As soon as Reese took the fabric from the girl’s mouth, he learned that she wanted to be bound to the bed. Reese asked Lucifer about the cash that he had given the police officer at the precinct earlier. Lucifer told Reese that he had paid for the exotic bag.
[00:16:00] Reese also told Lucifer about Maze and his shady transactions at the warehouse. Lucifer told him that he didn’t send Mazel; she was just overprotective when it came to him. Lucifer added that he was smuggling edible sex toys since they weren’t FDA approved, so they couldn’t pass legally through customs. Reese couldn’t believe that he was wrong about everything. Lucifer understood that Reese only wanted a juicy scoop for his paper, so he allowed Reese to tag along since Chloe had found a lead on their case. Reese accompanied them on their lead which led to an arrest. Reese realized that Lucifer was just a really charming guy. He told Chloe that he was going to drop his story since he couldn’t find anything against their partnership.
[00:19:00] Marcus called on Chloe, so she left Reese inside the other half of the interrogation room. Lucifer entered the other half to interrogate Barry regarding who killed Poppy. Lucifer showed Barry his demon face leaving Barry no choice but to talk. After Barry drops to the floor, Reese saw Lucifer’s true identity through the one way mirror. Lucifer had no idea that Reese was still on the other side and that he saw his true self. Reese went to Linda to tell her the truth. Linda didn’t believe Reese and told him to stop invading her privacy. She demanded that Reese sign the divorce papers. Reese signed the papers and left.
[00:22:30] Reese spent a year following Lucifer along with everyone involved in his life. He tried to piece together enough proof to show Linda that Lucifer was the devil. After a year, Chloe and Lucifer came back to Reese to ask him for help regarding the serial killer case that they had been investigating with him. They wanted access to information that may help them unravel who their killer was. Reese told them to ask his assistant for help. Lucifer asked Reese if he had ever destroyed the guy sleeping with his wife. Reese told him that he hadn’t, and the guy might be invulnerable. Lucifer told him to take a big swing. Lucifer left to attend his therapy session with Linda. Reese realized that it was the perfect time to show Linda that Lucifer was the devil.
[00:26:00] Reese barged into Linda’s office and shot Lucifer in the chest. Lucifer just got up and complained about the hole in his expensive coat. Reese told Linda that Lucifer was the devil, but she already knew. She told Reese that at first, she couldn’t handle the information, but she was okay with it now. Linda defended Lucifer; she told Reese that he was a good man and a close friend. Reese left Linda in disbelief, realizing he had wasted a whole year trying to get his wife back. Reese no longer knew what to do. His boss wanted him to get himself back on track in order to be more productive at work. Reese visited Alvin Kapitski; he was the serial killer that Chloe and Lucifer were looking for last year. Reese tricked Alvin into helping him kill Lucifer.
[00:31:00] Alvin was back on medication and trying his best to be a good citizen. Reese wanted to exploit him to destroy Lucifer. Reese and Alvin went to Lux in order to poison Lucifer. He met with Chloe in order to provide the file that she had requested while Alvin slipped poison into Lucifer’s drink. Lucifer, on the other hand, invited Alvin over to meet a couple of his friends, and after their exchange of pleasantries all their glasses got mixed up. One of the girls drank the poison and died instantly. Alvin escaped leaving Reese to see the disaster, which was the result of his decision to poison Lucifer.
[00:34:00] Lucifer couldn’t accept that someone had died at Lux. He considered it his home and cared for everyone inside. Lucifer decided to go upstairs to his penthouse to have a drink. Chloe thought that the killer was after Reese because he was going to give them information regarding the killer. Reese blamed Lucifer for what had happened instead of him. He took a knife and followed Lucifer to the penthouse. He continued to blame Lucifer for everything, including the sins of people. Lucifer told Reese that he wasn’t the one to blame but humans themselves. Lucifer didn’t control people’s decisions, so he didn’t have anything to do with their sins. Reese didn’t understand why Linda had accepted and forgiven Lucifer. He told Reese that he had just shown her his true self.
[00:38:00] Reese went to Linda and told her everything that she wanted to hear. Linda told Reese that they weren’t what either of them needed, so it was good that they had separated. Reese thought that if he told Linda the truth, she would want him back; however, it wasn’t the case. Reese told Linda about the things he had done for her, how he had gone face to face with Lucifer, and how the innocent girl had died at Lux. Linda wanted to call the police, but Reese shoved her to the floor. Linda busted her head, and Reese told her to call Chloe. Reese left as Linda called the police.
[00:40:00] Reese returned to his office and drank to cool off. Alvin had spiked the drink with poison. He told Reese that Lucifer was innocent and a good man. Alvin knew that Reese was the fraud, so it was his turn to die. Reese grabbed Alvin as they heard police sirens. Alvin tried to make a run for it, but Chloe tackled him to the ground. Lucifer saw Reese lying on his office. He told Lucifer that he had drunk some poison. Lucifer told him that he hadn’t drunk everything. Reese thought that he had set things right and hoped that it would turn things around between him and Linda. Reese woke up in the hospital, but he was no longer in the land of the living.
