Lucifer Season 3 Episode 3 Recap – Mr. and Mrs. Mazikeen Smith

[00:00:50] Maze and Linda were drinking at Lux. Linda thought she had been drinking for the past three hours, but Maze told her that she’d been at it since last Tuesday. Linda and Maze continued talking about how demons were soulless. Lucifer confirmed that Maze was indeed soulless. Maze was getting bored as a bounty hunter since her targets were too easy. Linda told Maze that she should slow down to appreciate the things in her life. Linda passed out before she could hear out Lucifer’s advice. Lucifer told Maze that she should just follow her greatest desire; he suggested that Maze hunt down the most challenging target on earth. Maze liked the suggestion and agreed.

[00:03:40] Maze visited Lieutenant Herrera of the organized crime division in search of a new target. She told Herrera that she was going after Ben Rivers. He warned Maze that Ben was dangerous and that no one had succeeded in capturing him. Maze accepted the challenge even though it seemed impossible. Chloe asked Maze if she knew what she was getting into. Maze didn’t seem to understand that Los Angeles and Canada were two different places, nor did she did care. Trixie hid inside Maze’s gym bag in hopes of tagging along with Maze. Chloe didn’t agree and told her to get out of the bag. Maze assured Trixie that she was going to be fine. Trixie gave her a stuffed toy to take with her. Maze accepted the toy and left. Chloe told Trixie that Maze was going to be fine and that she was more worried for Canada than Maze.

[00:07:00] Maze arrived in Canada, and she didn’t like the weather at all. To top things off, some random guy bumped into her, and she got covered in snow. Maze man-handled the guy and took his jacket. Back at the precinct, Chloe kept tracking Maze as she went on a rampage all across Canada. Dan bid them farewell as he was going on vacation in Hawaii. There were multiple reports of chaos, which she presumed were all caused by Maze. Lucifer told Chloe that she should stop being overprotective and let Maze do her job. Chloe told Lucifer that they should assist Maze in any way they could.

[00:13:00] Chloe spoke with Ben’s attorney, Athena Burns, in hopes of helping Maze. She told Athena that wherever Maze went, there was a phone call to her office. Athena didn’t want to assist them, so Lucifer used his powers to find out her deepest desires. She confessed that she had fallen in love with Ben and continuously supported him with money transfers. She had also helped him evade the police and make his way to Canada. Chloe wanted to know why Athena had decided to help a cold-blooded murderer. She told Chloe that Ben was manipulative, and she couldn’t resist him. Maze was able to track down Ben Rivers and his date. She impersonated the date and handcuffed Ben to the bar.

[00:16:00] Maze and Ben had a drink at the bar. He told Maze that she should celebrate capturing one of the greatest fugitives in the world. Ben worked his magic of seduction and misdirection in order to evade Maze. Ben removed his handcuffs and managed to handcuff Maze to the bar before disappearing in thin air. Maze couldn’t believe what had happened. Back at the precinct, Chloe continued to keep an eye out for Maze. She called her to warn her that Ben was dangerous; however, Lucifer ended the call. He reminded Chloe that she should stop being overprotective and that Maze could handle her own problems. Lucifer texted Maze the address where Ben was hiding.

[00:20:30] Maze came prepared for a brawl as she handcuffed Ben to herself. Ben did his best to defend himself, but he couldn’t keep up. He told Maze that he didn’t want to shoot her, but she pointed out that he had already killed two people in cold blood. Ben told Maze that he was framed by Lieutenant Herrera. Chloe spoke with Herrera, who thanked her for getting a new lead on a dormant case. He requested to take it from there as he wanted to see things through till the end. Chloe agreed and gave him the files, but she knew something was off with Herrera. Ben told Maze that he used to work for Herrera, but he had decided to quit, and Herrera hadn’t agreed.

[00:23:00] Maze told Ben that she didn’t care for his alibi, but room service arrived. She recognized the woman who. had brought in the service cart. The woman took out a machine gun and started firing. Maze and Ben jumped over a table and took cover. Chloe made a few phone calls as she knew that there was something strange about the case. The woman continued firing, so Maze threw her dagger and killed her. Maze wanted to leave; however, Ben had been shot in the stomach. Maze called Linda and asked for instructions in order to save Ben’s life. Linda told Maze that she should take Ben to the hospital; however, that wasn’t an option.

[00:27:00] Maze grabbed the hotel sewing kit along with a bottle of alcohol. Linda told Maze that Ben should take some form of sedative before she took the bullet out. She asked Ben if he had any kind of drug with him. Ben didn’t have any, so she had no choice but to knock him out. Lucifer saw that Maze cared for Ben. Maze ended the call so that Linda and Lucifer wouldn’t see what she was about to do. Lucifer saw that Maze had indeed changed.

[00:28:00] Ben woke up and found the stuffed toy that Trixie had given Maze. She told Ben that it was Miss Alien. Ben thanked Maze for what she had done, but he knew that he would be killed if he went back to LA. Maze told Ben that it wasn’t her problem, but he knew that deep down, Maze cared for him. Someone knocked on the door, so Maze threw her dagger as a warning shot. It was Dan; he had come to check up on Maze because Chloe kept calling him. Chloe felt that there was something fishy about the Ben Rivers case. Maze told Dan that Ben kept telling her the same thing; however, Ben had already escaped.

[00:31:30] Dan told Maze that she should let the Canadians handle the case before things got any messier. She agreed, so Dan called it in; however, before he could provide any details, Maze left. Back at the precinct, Lucifer wanted to follow Maze in order to save her, but Chloe wanted to trust Maze to make the decision. Lucifer offered to speak with the security guard who had testified against Ben. They spoke to him, and he gave a completely different story than what he told everyone a few years back. The guard admitted that he was working with Lieutenant Herrera. He thought that Chloe and Lucifer were too. Chloe realized that Maze was in trouble. They left the interrogation room in order to save Maze.

[00:35:30] Maze tracked down Ben into the mountains where Herrera’s men held him at gunpoint. Maze provided enough time for Dan to catch up with them and make it an even fight. She killed everyone else and took Ben with her to escape as the police responded to the scene. Back at the precinct, Chloe arrested Lieutenant Herrera for murder and framing Ben. Maze told Ben that he could finally come home. Ben responded that he could never stop running since the people that Herrera worked for would surely come after him. Ben offered for Maze to come with him, but she refused.

[00:41:00] Maze celebrated her return with Linda, Chloe, Lucifer, and Trixie. Ben told Maze to be careful as he bid farewell.
