With Andor set to end its run soon, another Lucasfilm property is free to take the spotlight by the end of November.
Just in, we have a new look at the upcoming Willow series starring Warwick Davis, and it gives us a better look at what kind of story we can expect. Watch this:
The story began when an aspiring sorcerer, played by Warwick Davis, is whisked away on a journey to protect an infant empress Elora Danan and vanquish the evil Queen Bavmorda from their world of Andowyne. Now, the story continues with Davis reprising his titular role, as he leads an unlikely crew of heroes on a quest to protect Andowyne from an even larger foe than they had imagined possible.
Besides Davis, the film also stars Ellie Bamber, Ruby Cruz, Amar Chadha-Patel, and Dempsey Bryk. Solo: A Star Wars Story and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier actress Erin Kellyman is also on board, as well as Spider-Man’s Tony Revolori.
The original Willow was directed by Ron Howard, who is serving as an executive producer for this series. Jonathan Kasdan, who also helped write Solo, is attached to the series as well.
Though the fantasy world of Willow may not be as expansive as Lord of the Rings, the movie still remains a cult favourite. It’s a classic good-versus-evil tale, and there are a lot of characters to love in the original movie. No doubt they’ll try to recreate the same spirit of the films with this show—but this time they’ll have some better visual effects.
Catch Willow the series when it premieres on Disney+ on Nov. 30.
