We got a taste of Elizabeth Olsen in suburbia with Disney+’s WandaVision series, but now she’s ready to come back for a darker tale with Love & Death. The show is set to come out this April, and we have a new trailer featuring Olsen as real-life murderer Candy Montgomery.
Check this out:
Here’s the official description for the series:
Love & Death takes a close look at Candy Montgomery’s shift from a bright, devout Christian housewife to a merciless ax-murderer and the peculiar affair that started it all. Set in a close-knit, trusting Texas community full of carefree families and faithful churchgoers, it’s an idyllic picture–and the perfect cover for dangerous secrets and vicious jealousy left unchecked. With executive producers David E. Kelley and Nicole Kidman and stars Elizabeth Olsen and Jesse Plemons, the limited series promises sky-high pedigree, style with substance, and the complex, psychological nuance necessary for such an unbelievable true crime story.
What’s odd is that this isn’t the first true crime series based on the story of Candy Montgomery. Last year, Hulu had released Candy, telling the story of the same murderer, but this time the role of Montgomery is played by Jessica Biel.
We don’t know how both shows are going to be different, but we should always expect HBO Max to up the ante when it comes to quality television. Add in the internet’s collective ‘waifu’ Elizabeth Olsen, and you have one major draw for a true crime series.
Love & Death premieres on HBO Max on April 27.
