A few hours before Krypton‘s Season 2 premiere, SyFy dropped a welcome surprise to DC’s most loyal fans—Emmett J. Scanlan’s Lobo will be getting his own spin-off series (via TheWrap).
The anti-hero is one of DC’s most ruthless bounty hunters in the comics. Also known as Zhariff Lobo, he is a Czarnia-born alien who lives off of hunting down individuals and as a skilled mercenary. Translated from Lobo’s native language, his name basically means “he who devours your entrails and thoroughly enjoys it.” Lobo was also responsible for slaughtering his entire race, making him the last of his kind. Oof.
Lobo’s Bright Future
As the Superman prequel series gears up for its second season, Lobo will be appearing as one who’s presumed to be hunting down Adam Strange (Shaun Sipos) in the midst of civil disarray in Kandor. It’s unclear how the solo Lobo series will begin, but it’s currently operating under the working title “Lobo.” Krypton executive producer Cameron Welsh will oversee the project, serving both as executive producer and writer.
Krypton Season 2 follows Seg-El (Cameron Cuffe) as he tries to overthrow General Dru-Zod’s (Colin Salmon) tyranny over Kandor. Seg will help organize the small rebellion that’s blossoming into something that Zod might fear. But with Brainiac and Doomsday looming in the horizon, Krypton’s future might be in dire straits. Krypton takes place 200 years before the birth of Superman and focuses on his grandfather, Seg, as he brings a better future to their planet—despite the imminent destruction that would bring Superman (and Supergirl) to Earth.
There’s no word as to when Lobo will premiere, but Krypton season 2 airs Wednesday nights at 10/9c on SyFy.
