Listen to Michael Giacchino’s New Themes for The Batman and Riddler

Every new iteration of Batman comes with its new costume, actor, Batmobile, and gadgets, but some overlook that each new Batman also comes with their own musical theme. With the approaching release for The Batman WaterTower Music has shared Michael Giacchino’s new themes for Batman and the Riddler.

Listen to this:

And here’s the Riddler’s ominous theme music:

Despite the film’s dark tone, the first few minutes of Batman’s theme actually sound kind of heroic and uplifting, but toward the end, we get the menacing bells and horns from the last trailer. As for Riddler, his theme already sounds pretty creepy from the start, but when the orchestra goes full swing, you have some very sharp and crazy-sounding strings. Both actually sound pretty intense, and I can’t wait to see what kind of visuals will match the music.

With WB doubling down on their new DC plans, they are working extra hard to get general audiences to forget the Snyderverse and pushing their new upcoming slate of heroes. While I would have loved for the Snyderverse to continue, I’m also open to some more experimental takes on DC properties, and Matt Reeves’ The Batman is just the kind of film that looks like it’s going to take risks with the character. Let’s just hope that people actually like this film when it comes out in the theater.

The Riddler plays a dangerous game of cat and mouse with Batman and Commissioner Gordon in Gotham City.

The Batman is set to hit theaters on March 4.
