Lion King Live Action Remake To Reportedly Cast Beyonce As Nala

“Maleficent” and “Cinderella” have proven to be moderately successful remakes, but it has been “The Jungle Book” and “Beauty and the Beast” who took the spotlight with a staggering box office domination. Disney now plans to do “Lion King,” as it’s next full-CGI project with “The Jungle Book” director Jon Favreu to helm the film. A few roles have now been announced, with Donald Glover as Simba and James Earl Jones reprising his role as the great Mufasa. Now, the next move is to figure out who could be cast as Nala, Simba’s other half. Grammy award-winner Beyonce is top choice for the said role.

It’s a guarantee that Disney’s live-action remakes of all their animated classics is a sure hit. With all the advancements that the visual effects industry are continuously innovating, it’s not so much of a question of its integrity to the source material, but rather how real it can look.

Beyonce Being Eyed For Nala’s Role In The Lion King Remake

According to Variety, Grammy award-winner Beyonce is Favreu’s top choice for Nala’s voice artist. It hasn’t been confirmed if Beyonce agreed to do it, as she is currently pregnant with twins. But with Favreu’s passion for these kinds of projects, we’re pretty sure that he’ll move heaven and earth just to get Beyonce involved in the “Lion King” remake.

Adding Beyonce in to the mix of huge stars would be a great launchpad for the project. Some critics may not be on board with the previous casting decision, but the talent alone that Glover possesses is impossible to look over. It’s not yet confirmed if the “Lion King” remake would incorporate music (don’t go all Mulan on us!), but the thought of Glover and Beyonce singing “Can You Feel The Love Tonight?” is pretty exciting.

Should Beyonce choose to take on Nala’s role, this would be her second animated movie role since 2013’s “Epic”. With her music career still churning out amazing singles and albums, it is also very likely for her to turn down the project. It’s only a matter of time before we find out if Beyonce agrees to join the up and coming stellar cast of the “Lion King” remake.
