We already know that Linda Cardellini (Freaks and Geeks, Scooby-Doo) plays Hawkeye’s wife Laura in the Avengers movies, but she actually has a role in the highly-anticipated Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
As it turns out, Cardellini will be providing the voice of Lylla the Otter, another experiment of the High Evolutionary who was also a close friend of Rocket Racoon. Lylla was actually a character in the comics who is considered to be Rocket’s ‘soul mate’. We don’t know what exactly her origin will be here, but she will be one of several sentient animals that have fallen victim to the HE.

Interestingly enough, I mentioned that Cardellini worked on the live-action Scooby-Doo movies, and those films were actually written by James Gunn before he was directing movies for Marvel. Cardellini is also a prolific voice actress, having roles in series like Gravity Falls and Regular Show.
I actually thought that we’ve seen the last of Laura Barton with the Hawkeye series, but it’s great that Cardellini has found a way into the MCU through another character. Fingers crossed we’ll see more of Lylla down the line.
Here’s the synopsis for the movie:
Still reeling from the loss of Gamora, Peter Quill rallies his team to defend the universe and one of their own – a mission that could mean the end of the Guardians if not successful.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 releases in theaters on May 5.
