Sara Lance/White Canary has been through a lot in the previous season of “Legends of Tomorrow.” For the upcoming third season, though, White Canary actress Caity Lotz shared that what she thinks about her character’s relationship status should be.
The CW’s “Legends of Tomorrow” has managed to have a unique superhero TV niche for itself over the past two years. Time travel stories mixed with a little bit of comedy made fans love the show, sometimes being at par with the regular audience for “Arrow” and “The Flash.” Each character went on to become fan favorites, including Ray Palmer/The Atom, Dr. Martin Stein/Firestorm, Rip Hunter and more.
Caity Lotz On Sara Lance’s Future Romanctic Story on Legends of Tomorrow Season 3
But among the well-loved characters, no one has come close to the massive following that Lotz’s role has. She spent an entire season in “Arrow,” was later killed, resurrected and then added to the awesome team of “Legends of Tomorrow.” Since then, fans have been wondering when she’ll finally have some kind of a romantic arc in the show. Turns out that Lotz herself is speaking for the fans too.
In an interview with DC Entertainment, Lotz was asked about the upcoming third season of “Legends of Tomorrow” and the new premise of the show. Lotz teased how the show’s broken timeline will affect the vibe and stories within the season before going on to say the one thing that she’s hoping to happen to her character. She had this to say:
“I think this time we’re not gonna see history as we remembered it. Before, you’d travel back and history was kind of what it was in the text books. Now that we’ve broken time, we can travel anywhere and anything can be crazy… I’d like to see what sort of effects being in charge have on [Sara]. I’d like to see her have a good relationship. Not just a fling but a real love relationship would be nice.”
White Canary’s Romantic History
When Sara first came out in “Arrow,” she was involved in a relationship with Nyssa Al Ghul (Katrina Law), one of Ra’s Al Ghul’s daughters. This was a welcome LGBT representation for the superhero TV show, and it seemed to start other similar relationships in “The Flash” and “Supergirl” as well. So when Sara didn’t have any romantic involvement with anyone during the first two seasons of “Legends of Tomorrow,” fans began to wonder if Sara will ever have someone to love again.
Sure, Sara has had flings here and there, but none of them seemed to hint at a lasting and genuine relationship. Given Lotz’s comments, it’s good to know that even the actress who plays her wants something more than just short term fixes.
Whether or not Sara Lance’s romantic story will be explored remains to be seen. So we’ll only have to wait until the next season comes in. But at least fans can rest assured that they aren’t the only ones pushing for it to happen—White Canary feels the same.
“Legends of Tomorrow” season 3 premieres Tuesday, October 10th on The CW.
