SyFy's 'Krypton' Renewed for a Second Season

It’s time for SyFy’s Krpyton fans to rejoice! With the show’s ever-increasing viewership and exciting storyline, the network reports that the Superman prequel spin-off series will be back for a fresh, new season!

A recent report from Nielsen ratings (via The Wrap) shows that Krypton is now the cable channel’s most-watched freshman show since 2014’s “Ascension.” The Season 1 finale will air tomorrow night, and it’s only a matter of time before the Houses of planet Krypton come face to face with a possibly catastrophic event.

Krypton proved to be one of DC’s best shows to date, and every episode keeps on getting better. A lot has happened over the past episodes. Longtime Superman foe Brainiac is set to claim the planet for himself. Doomsday is also set to make an appearance, and the House of Zod is oddly portrayed as one of the good guys. Cameron Cuffe plays Seg-El, Kal-El’s (Superman/Clark Kent) grandfather who only wants to redeem his family’s honor after the council killed Seg’s grandfather, Val-EL (Ian McElhinney).

The next season of Krypton will arrive sometime in 2019. For full recaps of the first season (including tomorrow’s finale), visit our full Krypton Season 1 coverage.

Krypton is based on the characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. The show is executive produced by David S. Goyer, who penned the script for various DC movies, including Batman V Superman: Dawn of JusticeMan of SteelThe Dark Knight, and Batman Begins. Cameron Welsh also serves as executive producer and the showrunner.
